Product Description

Deadly spells are igniting across Haven, and the Queen of Dreams is in mortal danger. The court is pointing accusing fingers at Lord Rylam. One thing is clear—Haven needs Laenan Kite. He's the most powerful magician in all of Dreams, the bane of Nightkeep, the protector of Earth's sleeping souls. Queen Lisana wants him on the case fast, because if Rylam isn't the enemy, then the Realm of Dreams is in deep trouble. This is the spellbinding sequel to Mirror Dreams.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pale Reflection, Nov 28 2007
By Wyvernfriend - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Mirror Wakes (Paperback)
This one has me in a quandry. On it's own it's a solid 4* story but compared to it's prequel it's more of a 3* read. Without the prequel it really doesn't make sense, a lot of what's going on is as a consequence of Mirror Dreams (Wizard Laenan Kite Books). It's is quite dependent on that story. This is also a darker, more mature story. There's less of the sarcastic comments and more of a sense of having to do these things in order to protect his world. Laenan Kite seems a lot more world-weary. He's fought too much, lived too long, tried too hard to protect everything and it's going to pot, again. I could see where that would pall.
The end leaves you wondering if there will be yet another sequel as it's not clear what happens after the evil has been defeated. A further sign of maturity of the characters and probably the author.
Overall an interesting read but for me it wasn't as satisfying as Mirror Dreams (Wizard Laenan Kite Books) however I would continue to read Catherine Webb and would like to see another story in this sequence.

3.0 out of 5 stars A letdown - but still good, April 7 2007
A Kid's Review - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Mirror Wakes (Paperback)
This is actually 3 and a half stars.
As a sequel to Mirror Dreams, it was a letdown. If you compared it to Mirror Dreams, it just wasn't good enough. It seemed like a big rush through, with the Characters not detailed enough and not as much humorous sarcasm from Kite. I'm not saying it's horrible, just not as good as the last one. It still had a pretty good plot and solves the mystery of Dreamers. There's a new Dreamer in it too, Miriam, who made me gnaw the inside of my mouth the whole time because of her stubborness. The story mostly revolves around her. My advise though -get it from a library, and see if you like it or not, your disapointment will be cheaper.
