You'll bless the day you purchased this, provided you welcome grief and gravitas now and then.Jan. 10 2015

This is an ensemble of four vocalists and four instrumentalists. Alternating their contributions is a wise dispensation and the experience transcends what we're accustomed to look for from a musical program. Compared to what I'm used to hearing "in the distinguished routine of things" by other groups, this is a performance of unprecedented intimacy/intensity.
A tip after much repeated listening: don't attempt to absorb it all in one sitting. The audience in de Penelosa's day had more reserves for absorption of intense grief than we do. I suggest circumscribing a home concert of tracks 1-7 and then, after some R&R, returning for tracks 8-14.
The quality of everything is A++++, including glorious visual packaging & serious, grave program notes.
