Book Description

June 1 2003
'He's responsible for the deaths of many people. But everything I've learned about him makes me believe he's fundamentally a good person. Sounds crazy doesn't it? How can he be a good person?' For seventeen years the FBI have been hunting down a killer, a killer with a difference. His victims are the bad people the law couldn't touch. But are his actions those of a maniac or a saviour? And what happened to turn him into Mr Candid? Brought into a life of privilege and wealth on America's East Coast, Charlie Kane was a child prodigy. Reading the New York Times at the age of three, a mathematical genius at thirteen, this gentle, handsome boy went to Harvard University where he found the love of his life and a place in the world. Until one Thanksgiving, seventeen years ago, when Charlie and the entire Kane family all but vanished.

Review

“A serial killer is on the loose, but not the usual breed. Urban myth whispers of a ‘Mr. Candid,’ who, for the past 17 years, has been quietly and efficiently removing the parts of society that the law can’t reach. In prose that is both graceful and hard-hitting, Jules Hardy plays across the fuzzy lines that separate good from bad deeds and morality from law.” —The Times

5.0 out of 5 stars Book of Life May 17 2004
Format:Mass Market Paperback
hardy's book "altered land" was one of the books that has changed my life.
the humanity in this book is so real, so rough as life.
i live in israel and dealing with consequenses of bombings everyday. and as a person who lives in such a reality i could only read this book and agree to every written word.
the characters' life are described in a way you'll feel as you are part of them too.
i could go on for ages, but tp sum up, this one of the only books that will make you more human after you've read it.
just read it!

Format:Paperback
This is the 2nd book I have read by Jules Hardy. Her debut novel Altered Land was the best book I read in 2002 and Mister Candid is my favourite novel for 2003. I have lent this to both my male and female friends and everyone thinks it is terrific.
