Product Description

A warm-hearted, nostalgic and funny continuation of the story begun in the popular Teacher, Teacher! With a wonderful gallery of characters in this North Yorkshire village, author and real-life headmaster, Jack Sheffield, chronicles another riotous year in the life of Ragley-in-the Forest village school.

About the Author

Jack Sheffield was born in 1945 and grew up in the tough environment of Gipton Estate, in North East Leeds. After a job as a 'pitch boy', repairing roofs, he became a Corona Pop Man before going to St John's College, York, and training to be a teacher. In the late seventies and eighties, he was a headteacher of two schools in North Yorkshire before becoming Senior Lecturer in Primary Education at Bretton Hall near Wakefield. It was at this time that he began to record his many amusing stories of village life portrayed in Teacher, Teacher!, his first novel. Mister Teacher is his second novel and continues the story of life in the fictional village of Ragley-on-the-Forest. His new book, Dear Teacher, will be published in early 2009. Jack Sheffield lives in York and Hampshire. Visit his website at www.jacksheffield.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Warm and Funny, Jan 10 2011
This review is from: Mister Teacher (Paperback)
Having read the first book in this series, I looked forward to reading Mister Teacher and I was not disappointed. The story continues from the first book as a new school year begins at Ragley. Jack Sheffield, the author, writes with such wit and wisdom as the school year unfolds and the characters come to life. Whether you live in a small town or in a large urban centre, there are many aspects of this book that you will identify with. The stories are funny, heartwarming and at times sad. A wonderful read!

This review is from: Mister Teacher (Paperback)
This is an excellent and entertaining view of school and village life in the Yorkshire Dales written by a school teacher/headmaster. He keeps up the pace leaving the reader wanting to read on. It is biographical without using exact place and people names. Jack Sheffield uses the Yorkshire colloquialisms, expressions and accents that put one right into the stories without distracting from the story lines.
One can hear the characters speak. Each chapter is its own story but is connected with the rest of the book. A lovely read.
