Warm and Funny,
This review is from: Mister Teacher (Paperback)
Having read the first book in this series, I looked forward to reading Mister Teacher and I was not disappointed. The story continues from the first book as a new school year begins at Ragley. Jack Sheffield, the author, writes with such wit and wisdom as the school year unfolds and the characters come to life. Whether you live in a small town or in a large urban centre, there are many aspects of this book that you will identify with. The stories are funny, heartwarming and at times sad. A wonderful read!

This is an excellent and entertaining view of school and village life in the Yorkshire Dales written by a school teacher/headmaster. He keeps up the pace leaving the reader wanting to read on. It is biographical without using exact place and people names. Jack Sheffield uses the Yorkshire colloquialisms, expressions and accents that put one right into the stories without distracting from the story lines. One can hear the characters speak. Each chapter is its own story but is connected with the rest of the book. A lovely read. |
