2.0 out of 5 stars Disapointed, Oct 3 2009
By P. M. Reuss - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: From the Mists of Wolf Creek (Mass Market Paperback)
I bought this book based on the excerpt and on the storyline. I was very disappointed in the way the story was told. I think Ms. Brandewyne's dialogue was weak and not at all believable, and I thought her characters were not well fleshed out. They just didn't become real to me. I'd liked to have seen more involvement of the wolf, and a bit more understanding of the bond between the man and wolf before the epilogue.

I think this could have been a terrific plot, but instead it was a not-too-well-done murder mystery, not a paranormal romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars A magically real, old-fashioned romance, Jun 13 2009
By Renee C. Mulhare "matrixrefugee77" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: From the Mists of Wolf Creek (Mass Market Paperback)
Following the passing of her grandmother, Hallie Muldoon has returned to her grandmother's farm years after her mother's tragic death and her father's disappearance. But even a sunny place like her beloved childhood home has its dark secrets; however, she has plenty of protectors keeping an eye out for her, including a black wolf who may have been conjured by her grandmother, and especially the mysterious gentleman-drifter Trace Coltrane, who bears an odd resemblance to that wolf...

This is a perfect book to read on a sunny summer day while sitting under a tree with a tall glass of lemonade or iced tea, especially if you're looking for an old-fashioned romance. The writing is lushly descriptive: you can just *SEE* the interior of Hallie's grandmother's house and feel the rush of the storm on the first night she arrives. The characters are good, likable people you'll wish you knew in reality (I know I'd like to find a polite, well-spoken but rugged man like Trace!) ; even the antagonists are hard to really despise, since they're mostly just troubled people. Some might criticize this story for being less dark or edgy than some Silhouette Nocturnes have been, but we all need a patch of summer and a breath of fresh country air and a love that's passionate yet pure; this book provides all three in bushels!

4.0 out of 5 stars intriguing romantic suspense thriller, Jun 6 2009
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: From the Mists of Wolf Creek (Mass Market Paperback)
Hallie Muldoon decides to return to Wolf Creek after her late grandma bequeathes her the family farmhouse where Hallie remembers having spent great times growing up whenever she stayed there. However, still grieving her loss since only a month has passed since her grandma died, she ignores a Starry Night that van Gogh would appreciate. However as she drives on the two lane road in her sporty red Mini Cooper S, she sees a large black wolf.

Aunt Gwen greets her at the farm. Gwen has hired Trace Coltrane to repair the farm. However, soon inexplicable things begin to occur to include a stalker; with each incident the large black wolf appears ready to keep Hallie safe. Hallie begins to wonder if the strange occurrences including the wolf might be tied to her mom's death several years ago.

This is an intriguing romantic suspense thriller in which the audience will wonder if the threat is psychological or paranormal as hints of both surface throughout the fine story line. Hallie and Trace are a wonderful pairing as she wonders just who he is. Although the ending is too fast and abrupt, fans will enjoy learning the secrets FROM THE MISTS OF WOLF CREEK.
