3.0 out of 5 stars The German release is always the best, Sep 24 2000

This is the German release of Kraftwerk last official CD before they returned with the single (...) Expo 2000. As usual, the German version is better than the translated (English) version.

4.0 out of 5 stars Did You Catch The James Brown Bass Line?, Jan 14 2007
By Bicycle Day - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Mix (Audio CD)
Termed by Ralf Hutter as a "live album," the songs are newly arranged and re-recorded at Kraftwerk's legendary Kling Klang studio.

Hutter and Florian Schneider take the metallic feel from parts of the music and bring in a hefty dosage of dance-club beats, with some pretty playful arrangements. Check out Music Non Stop, which features bass lines from James Brown's Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex-Machine.

The antinuclear stance in Radioactivity has the duo bringing real meaning to the beat. The Robots - when played in concert features robots as the musicians - Trans Europe Express and Homecomputer keep the groove pumping.

One controversy emerged from the album, as former band member Karl Bartos alleged that he was not given credit for his programming work. There has been such allegations against Hutter & Schneider when previous albums were re-released with new liner notes.

Looking at the past with emerging studio technology, Kraftwerk delivers an outstanding mix-tape that retains its clubland edge.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Mix is the max., Sep 25 2000

I've been a huge fan of Kraftwerk ever since '83 when I got ComputerWorld. I got the standard english version of The Mix as soon as it was released here in the U.S. and I was blown away by the new digital sound and awesome remixing of their songs. I loved hearing their best work from previous albums all put on one c.d., it was like listening to them for the first time again. When I heard the import german version of The Mix I totally freaked out. To hear the masters of electronic music singing these great songs in german gave me goose-bumps. If you are a Kraftwerk fan you owe it to yourself to get these import c.d.'s from Amazon.com because it will make your collection complete and it will amaze you to hear the music you love sang in german. I had a hard time finding Kraftwerk's c.d.'s in regular local music stores, but since I tried out Amazon.com I've found everything I want and need. Thanks very much.
