A Great "Live" Performance By Dutch DJ Ferry Corsten! July 30 2003
Format:Audio CD
This cd was recorded "live" at Spundae in Los Angeles. Ferry whips up a delicious set of trance that has clubbers throwing their hands in the air. There really isn't a bad song on this disc, and the standouts are many such as "Velvet Morning" by Kyau vs. Albert, "Purple Haze" (not the Jimi Hendrix song) by Mesh, "North Pole" by Solid Globe, "Beachbreeze" by Svenson & Gielen, "Flakes" by Matti Laamanen, "Stealing Beauty" by Rapid Eye, "Indigo" and "Punk" by Ferry Corsten to name a few. Ferry mixes mostly melodic trance that he's well known for spinning, so if you enjoyed his "Global Transmissions" and "Trance Nation" cd's then you'll love this release. As a bonus you get a dvd which has highlights of Ferry spinning at Spundae as well as his comments on his hit "Punk". You also get the video of "Punk" plus other goodies as well. A great trance cd & dvd for those who want to hear and see this amazing disc jocky perform "live". Highly recommended!

Ferry Corsten s*cks! July 14 2004
Format:Audio CD
Well, after listening and digging on his track he produced called "Rock your body rock" I thought hey why not check out one of his mix cd's? Well, sure enough I bought this piece of work (Mixed Live @ Spundae in L.A.) and it has got to be the worst trance selection ever! First off, the new trance of today makes me cringe and think of Alice Deejay playing and the dreamy female vocales that make up todays trance does nothing for me. What happened to trance? Back in 93' when it was first conceived in the electronica music world it sounded promising it then passed "techno" as the genre's leading form of music. Trance peaked in 1998 then we start getting over produced,Paul Oakenfold style of trance. This version of trance has made it in todays electronica. For one thing top DJ's like Sandra Collins and Ferry Corsten had been around for 10 years and know that this stuff that they play is crap.
I know trance and this is definitly not trance!
If your into today's blip, blip, ding, ding trance then this is for you all you that are old school and those that want to know the true meaning of trance check out these selections:
Psychotrance 1 (moonshine records)
Keoki's Journeys by DJ (moonshine records)
Psychotrance 3 (moonshine records)
Sven Vath's In the mix the sound of the first season

those I feel are definitive trance in the mix, do a search on cdnow for those or go to www.mooonshine.com for more info.

The set is killer, the 5.1 surround sound DVD is killer, the whole thing is just unreal. Ferry Corsten delivers the goods, BIG TIME on this one.
This is one of my favorite CDs out right now along with mr.deviant's "Techno Obsession".
