This review is from: A Modern Dog's Life: How to Do the Best for Your Dog (Paperback)
Animal behaviourist, veterinarian, award-winning researcher and dog-lover Paul McGeevy's approach to owning and training a dog is based on picturing ourselves as life coaches "[to] ensure that dogs get the best possible life and that [we] get joy and satisfaction as owners." Using humour and straightforward language, he describes what dogs value, what they dislike, what motivates them, and how to be a calm leader. Throughout, McKeevy cites numerous surveys and studies to challenge conventional thinking. Thoroughly engaging with thought-provoking information for anyone dealing with dogs, this book is hard to put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars The funniest educational book I've ever read!!!, Nov 2 2011
By JAS - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: A Modern Dog's Life: How to Do the Best for Your Dog (Paperback)
As the title suggests this is the funniest educational book that I have ever read. Whilst I haven't quite finished it yet, I have found that it is very straight to the point and makes you sit back and think about life from your dog's perspective. Whilst reading I often found myself looking at my dog going, ohh that's why you do that...how interesting. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves their dog enough to want the best life for their dog as a dog and not humanise them. My dog is certainly happier and by far more responsive to me as a leader based on the suggestions I have read in this book. Our relationship is a lot stronger thanks to this book. Full credit to the author, Paul McGreevy for writing in simplified manner but for making it an enjoyable read and strengthening the bond between my dog and me.

5.0 out of 5 stars #1 Book If You Want To Understand Dogs, No Nonsense, Dog Reality, Dec 13 2011
By W. E. Baehr "whipperin1" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: A Modern Dog's Life: How to Do the Best for Your Dog (Paperback)
I've read many books on dogs and this book is #1 in importance and value if you want to understand dogs. I learned more about the science of dogs from this book than any other. It's amazing that this book is not the #1 dog book best seller on Amazon. Beats all the anthropomorphic, dog whispering, psychobabble, mysticism, folklore, and other doggie nonsense by a mile.
