About the Author
Peter O’Donnell created of Modesty Blaise, which was first published in 1963. The internationally successful character has appeared in book, film and comic forms.
Neville Colvin was a noted strip artist whose career began in the 1950s. He is most famous for illustrating Modesty Blaise, but also worked on James Bond and the fondly remembered Ginger & Co.

Modesty Blaise had great run, from 1963 to 2000 - not many daily comics last that long, and far fewer deserve to. Blaise, the free-lance covert op extraordinaire works her way through three exciting story arcs in this collection: Wild Boar, Kali's Disciples, and the title story, Double Agent. The first sees her and Willie Garvin saving an old friend from kidnappers. The fact that the old friend is head of national security just raises the stakes. Next, Blaise and Garvin find their Indian vacation rudely interrupted. At least, I take attempted murder as rudeness, and that just gets worse as she carries out a last favor for an old friend. Then, in Double Agent, Cold War rivalries warm up as a rogue KGB lord concocts an elaborate plan to assassinate another of Blaise's well-placed friends using a Blaise look-alike.Instead of weird gadgetry or bizarre coincidences, Blaise and Garvin save each of the various days with wit and long-honed skill. The "girl power" message predated the women's liberation movement by a fair bit, but surely played its part. Even though no new Blaise comics are coming out, the entire run is available in collections like these. There's no need to take the whole series in order. Each story stands by itself, but gives just enough context for newcomers to feel at home. Blaise has long been one of my favorites, and this collection shows why.

Great set of Modesty Blaise adventures. Enjoyed them immensely - love the fact that new episodes of Modesty Blaise are becoming available. I think she (and Willie) are SO much better than James Bond.

This item was not exactly what I wanted, but enjoyed reading the newspaper daily comic strips. I thought it was a regular book with just words, but it was more like a "comic book". I didn't know this series was also a newspaper daily strip.Figure I got my money's worth out of the purchase. Enjoyed it once I started reading, but still prefer a stand "book".
