100% BLISS, Nov 5 2000

This CD is 100% bliss; great performances in awsome recordings. I just wish all the great artists' works would be re-recorded with HDCD. Let it be known that HDCD sounds great on conventional CD players too, but on an HDCD player you wonder why the record industry is not gobbling it up. I would be willing to rebuy my 250 CD collections all over again!

Reference Quality CD and Performances, Jan 24 2012

This CD has long been my reference disc when trying out new stereos and calibrating PA systems and home theaters. You simply have to turn it up to appreciate everything that is going on in these recordings. While none of these songs would ever crack a top 10 list, maybe not even a top 40, they are all well worth listening to and ejoyable for the sheer musicianship and talent that went into them.
Some of my favorite highlights are as follows:
The opening hit on the snare on The Thinker is simply awesome. You know your sound system is dialed in when you jump a little at that first crack.
The look on people's face's when they feel bass line in Metro. The horn section is pretty good too.
Lowdown has a sweet bass solo around the 4:30 mark.
The opening sequence in Yankee Girl is completely immersive. Listen to it on a well tuned system with your eyes closed... you'll feel like you're actually there in the street.
Aung San Suu Kyi: Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. Nuff said.

I would spend the money just to have Greg Adam's "Metro" in my collection... I love the fade in the horn section. This disc is HDCD encoded, so for those of you who have PMD-100 players... what are you waiting for. PLAY IT LOUD
