5.0 out of 5 stars THAT'S HOW YOU KILL A WEREWOLF !! Aug. 10 2007

THE END OF THE WORLD STARTS AT MIDNIGHT. The forces of evil have returned to take over the world and there lead by Count Dracula and his band of monsters. Anyone who remembers "The Monster Squad" will definitely want to own this amazing two-disc 20th Anniversary Edition from Lionsgate/Maple Pictures. The performance given by the entire cast is terrific and "The Monster Squad" is just as entertaining as it was 20 years ago.

The word I would use to describe this 20th Anniversary Edition is magnificent. The newly mastered 16x9 Widescreen video transfer is absolutely incredible and it's given new life to this classic from the 1980's. This DVD version also includes a newly mastered 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack and it's excellent to say the least. The new 5.1 Digital Surround Sound adds a whole new dimension to this movie, something it definitely needed. Old fans as well as new fans of "The Monster Squad" are in for a real treat with The 20th Anniversary DVD edition.

Not only will you get an amazing movie with spectacular picture and sound, you'll also be treated to wonderful bonus extras on the second disc. In my opinion the bonus extras are informative and fun to watch and make this two-disc set worth owning. What's keeping you? Join the monster squad as they band together to rid the world of Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman, the Mummy and Gill-Man. This is a wonderful movie that the whole family can sink their fangs into again and again. Monster Squad Forever!!

This is a great scary movie for kids and adults alike...
This little-known GEM of a film & one of my favorites with mostly a cast of unknowns. Stephen Macht (Graveyard Shift& many other stephen King films) & Jason Hervey (older brother, Wayne on Wonder Years) are familiar faces. A great kids frightfest that has the Creature From The Black Lagoon, Mummy, Wolfman, Frankenstein & a really hot & sexy Dracula with his female coven!
A passel of oddball kids fight the dark forces of evil in their small neighborhood with the help of Frankenstein & Scary German Guy (an old Germanic man that is a neighbor). Great plot, cool special effects, some excellent one liners & some wonderful child acting all make for a terrifc family frightfest! Check out the teacher in the beginning of the movie. The kids call her "Meow Mix" because her head is shaped like a cat's head! Great oddball writing in this movie makes it scary & funny!
Wonderful story! I just can't wait for this to come out on DVD!

He doesn't have nards! DO IT DO IT!! (kick) Wolfmans got nards. I as almost everyone else on this site, saw this movie when I was 9 or 10 on HBO. Recorded it and have been watching it ever since. It truely is my favorite movie, and I really do hope that it is released on DVD and given the full treatment. This is a great movie for young children with very active imaginations. Just the fact that the monster costums and make-up are so awesome its makes it an even better movie then say....any nightmare on elm street or friday the 13th. So if anyone that reads this knows if it is or when it does come out on DVD please e-mail me....my_flawed_reality@yahoo.com

4.0 out of 5 stars Would be a better monster on DVD May 25 2004
Format:VHS Tape
The Monster Squad is one of those films that you know you should not tell any of your friends that you watch, yet you cannot look away. I've stored this film in the 'guilty pleasure' section of my mind and will watch it 'secretly' for many years to come. Hee Hee! Writer/Director Fred Dekker (Night of the Creeps, House, Robocop 3)has crafted an absolute winner here, and even though it beggars the question," What age group are we aiming at?', it's still a fine little yarn. An old film (circa 1987) that is crying out for the DVD treatment. I can't wait to see Sean and the gang on the digital screen! Whatever happened to Ryan Lambert anyway?

5.0 out of 5 stars A Treasure of My Childhood Nov. 27 2003
Format:VHS Tape
I first saw this film thanks to my mother who recorded it from television or another tape, but I adored this film as much then as I do now. It's a fantastic mix of comedy and terror as well as some pretty nice monster costumes. The Wolfman really freaked me out to a nice degree. I really hope someone who has the power reads this and gives this the full DVD treatment this film deserves. If you haven't seen this, I suggest you do.

5.0 out of 5 stars We need the DVD March 21 2004
Format:VHS Tape
I remember this movie from my childhood and thought to look it up so that I can buy it for my son. I was very upset that you are expected to pay $35+ for a VHS copy. I hope that they will rerelease this to VHS at the least, DVD would be nice. Wish I could leave a better review but do not remember a lot about this movie other than I enjoyed watching it as a child, and was looking to purchase... but outrageous costs!

The Monster Squad is the best film I have ever watched with my children and even my grandson. It was very entertaining and very funny. We just loved Phoebe and Frankenstein. It is horrible that this movie has not been released on DVD, and worse yet you can't even find it on VHS anymore unless you want to purchase it used. It is a shame that such a wonderful movie is being overlooked as a classic.
