An Affair to Remember collides with Romancing the Stone in bestselling author Debbie MacOmber's Moon Over Water.. Lorraine Dancy and Jack Keller have little in common, but that doesn't stop their romance from blossoming under the scorching Yucatan sun. Framed for the theft of an ancient artifact and pursued by the police, a drug dealer nursing a grudge, and a crazed archeologist, Lorraine finds herself thrust into the questionable company of Jack Keller, retired mercenary. Jack's task is to get Lorraine safely back to the United States--all the while avoiding border patrols--but Lorraine keeps landing in trouble, right up to her pretty neck! Will the seemingly star-crossed lovers make it out of the jungle alive? And if they do, will they have the courage to live their dream and let love grow where it is meant to be--in each other's arms? Find out in this fast-paced and unpredictable contemporary that will delight loyal fans and make converts out of new readers. --Alison Trinkle --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Book Description

Lorraine Dancy has just discovered that everything she believes about her father is a lie—starting with the fact that Thomas supposedly died years ago. Now she's learned that not only is he not dead, he's living in a small town south of the border. In the process of tracking him down, she manages to get framed for theft and pursued by the real thief, the police and a local crime boss. Her father's friend Jack Keller agrees to help her escape, although Lorraine's reluctant to depend on a man like him.

Jack's every bit the renegade Lorraine thinks he is—an ex-mercenary and former Deliverance Company operative. He's also the one person who can guide her to safety. But there are stormy waters ahead, including an attraction neither of them wants to feel. An attraction that's as risky as it is intense—for both of them. The sooner he can get Lorraine home, the better! --This text refers to an alternate Mass Market Paperback edition.

I love Debbie Macomber and this book proves she just keeps getting better. In the characters of Jack Keller and Raine Dancy we get to see two people who have real lives and normal human fears. The subplot of the aftereffects of the Vietnam War is excellent. Many of us have friends or relatives who are still living with that nightmare. Ms. Macomber handles the moral dilemmas of that time with sensitivity and understanding. Both Jack and Raine learn to appreciate the gift of love on any level and become able to share it with others. There is plenty of action and adventure as well as lots of romance. Those looking for steamy sex will be disappointed. In my opinion this is a welcome change of pace from traditional romance/suspense novels. Enjoy the book. I'm sure you will become drawn into the lives of the characters by the end of the first chapter!

4.0 out of 5 stars a fun adventure romance, Aug 21 2005

This is third book in the Deliverance Company mercenary series, following Someday Soon (Cain's story) and Sooner or Later (Murphy's story), about unscrupulous but likable heros who rescue victims of third world terrorists. I wish I had realized that this was a series so I could have avoided reading the books out of order!

Exciting to read! A lesson in fighting for survival. It also contained a valuable lesson on coming to terms with past familial wrongs, forgiveness and reconciliation with estranged parents.

5.0 out of 5 stars An exciting adventure into the stormy seas of love!, May 30 1999
By Sharon Galligar Chance - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Moon over water (Mass Market Paperback)
Imagine growing up thinking your father is dead, and then one day finding out he's been alive and well and living in Mexico your entire life. Imagine going to Mexico to finally meet your father, and ending up on the run from the police, an insane thief, and the local crime boss. Imagine being rescued by the next best thing to an Indiana Jones, and being stranded at sea with him for days on end. Sounds like it might not be so bad, huh? Lorraine Dancy was an ordinary woman living an ordinary life when fate sent her on a life-altering adventure into the exotic world of inner Mexico. She knows her life will never be the same when she meets Jack Keller, a renegade ex-mercenary who sets out to teach her to take chances as they come. Debbie Macomber's newest release, "Moon Over Water," is an exciting, unparalleled adventure into the stormy seas of love. Macomber's characters are dynamic, her storyline thrilling and her pacing is right on the mark. This is why she is one of the absolute best at what she does--writing incredible romances. I'd love to see this tale made into a movie. It would be outstanding
