From the Back Cover

IT'S SHEER BALLOONACY!

Balloon animals are a time-honored remedy for lifeless parties and dull family get-togethers. And there's no better way to keep bored kids hands busy and their minds off mischief. Just imagine the looks of bafflement, then delight, on your six-year-old's face when, on the next rainy Saturday afternoon, you say to him or her, "Let's make an anteater!"

But sculpting with balloons takes talent and lots of practice, right? Actually, it's easier than tying a shoelace once you get the hang of it. And with More Balloon Animals you'll quickly master the basics and be on you way to creating amazing balloon sculptures in no time.

In this sequel to his popular, Balloon Animals, world-renowned balloonologist, Aaron Flanders, once again dips into his bestiary of furless friends to offer you patterns for twenty mind-blowing balloon creatures. From the exotic bipeds to everyday quadrupeds, this all-in-one package supplies you everything you need to create your own menagerie of featherweight pals, including a waddling penguin, a fierce lion, a slithery cobra, a slow-poke snail, a lithesome hummingbird, an eerie bat, and more.

More Balloon Animals supplies you with everything you need to create your balloon masterpieces, including:

  • Easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions
  • More than 275 photos illustrating each step
  • 30 balloons in various shapes and colors
  • A pocket-size balloon pump

Aaron Flanders is a leading balloon artist who has taught balloon-animal twisting to hundreds of kids, mimes, magicians, and children's entertainers, including Ringling Brothers clowns. He lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great beginner's book, Jan 21 2002

This was the first book I read about Balloon Animals, and it got me off to a great start. The patterns are introduced in order of difficulty, and the author provides a nice foundation to build on. The first instructions are extremely detailed, to get you going without any confusion. My son and I spent an evening making animals from this book, and within a couple of hours we felt like experts.

The balloons are of good quality, although the pocket balloon pump does require some patience.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite, Dec 1 2000
This review is from: More Balloon Animals (Paperback)
I had watched a number of balloon sculptors make things for my daughter and I decided to give it a shot. I had bought some balloons and a pump and just messed around until I came up with the basic flower, dog, giraffe and sword. Friends wanted me to make more balloons for their parties, playgroups, etc so I thought it would be nice if I could make a few more shapes the kids would enjoy. I bought this book knowing it came with balloons and another pump, but I figured the pump could be used if I recruit a helper at one of the parties. When it all arrived, I was ready to dive in. The pump is the type, however, that will cause your hand to cramp in short order if you are doing more than a couple of sculptures. In addition, I barely found any sculptures that were useable in the book. Many are the type that you would hand to a kid and they would say "what is this?" There are a couple of useable sculptures in it, but I think I'd have to recommend another book altogether for maximum enjoyment. After all, it isn't much fun to make something that is unrecognizable!
