This book contains brief, uninteresting accounts of people's canoe trips, including information such as "There were lots of bugs" or "We saw a bear," rather than anything substantial about a trip a paddler may be considering. There is a small scale map of Canada roughly indicating where these people went, and giving no more detail than showing, for instance, that the Nanook River is somewhere in northern Canada; the map of the world hanging on my wall better shows Canada's canoe routes. To fill up some space the editor also added a section profiling some paddlers, including Prime Minister Trudeau.

There is no reason to buy this book. Paddlers probably want maps, carry descriptions, rapid descriptions, information about permits, tips for transportation before and after their trip, and perhaps a list of local outfitters or guides. They will not find that here.
