This review is from: Mosby's 2004 Nursing Drug Reference (Paperback)
This book is highly recommended for both classroom and clinical work. I have found it to be helpful on many levels. The book reviews drugs as well as drug classes. Each entry outlines:
Mechanism of action
Uses
Side effects and adverse reactions
Contraindications
Pharmacokenetics
Interactions
Possible nursing diagnosis
Nursing considerations (such as assessing, administering, teaching patient and family)
In addition to the entries the appendix offeres a wealth of info including high alert drugs, formulas for dosage calcualation, FDA pregnancy categories, and much more. Of course, as with any drug book, you can expect some drugs to be missing as so many new drugs are introduced that it is hard to keep up. Nonetheless, Mosby's book is well written and easy to navigate.
