MOTHER'S DAY, in order to be enjoyed, must be viewed as a parody. It borrows elements from TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE, and LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, and ravels it all into one enjoyable horror film. In spite of all the horror that goes on within the movie, you cannot help but laugh at all the mistakes and at the dimwit brothers who kidnap girls to bring to their mother- who sits in a chair and watches them beat, rape, and kill them. What makes the film even more gruesome is that you actually care about what happens to the three girls who meet in the woods for a little college reunion and are kidnapped by the two brothers (which are, by the way, rather repulsive to look at) and brought, dragged around in their sleeping bags, to their home to show to their mother.
This has all the elements of a great Troma film-- kind-of-bad acting (except the three girls are stand-outs in the film), some corny dialouge, pretty fair special effects, and a cheesy storyline... and it is GREAT.
Some may call it "distasteful", others may call it "just plain stupid", but to me- and tons of other Troma fans- this is a milestone in the horror genre, and not to be missed. If you haven't already viewed this wonderful horror film-- WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? RENT IT TODAY!
