MotoRaid pleases the senses, Feb 22 2000

Wow, Thye's trip from Lake Oswego to Chile in 1963 was quite an awesome experience. Although I'll probably never have the nerve to do a similar run, it wouldn't be the same as it was back then anyhow. Anyway, I feel like I've been there having read the book. They tell me Thye is a respected BMW dealer in Washington now. His experience with the machine certainly qualifies him as such. Thanks to the folks at SoundRider.com for tipping me off to this book.

While "Adventure" riding may be as easy as signing up for a tour group these days, Mr. Thye was an original who did something very bold at a time when South America was a very unpredictable place...on what is by today's standards an inferior machine. As a testament to his BMW and himself, they both made it happen. Today he owns a successful BMW motorcycle dealership in Seattle(the only one in the Seattle area) where you can buy a brand new copy of this book for $12.99. Great guy, great read.

If you like motorcycles and adventures, you'll really like this book. This is the kind of trip every guy wants to take. Maybe you've got too many responsibilities, maybe you just don't have the balls, but at least you can live this adventure through the book. It's maybe not the best written book ever, but it's fun to read the story. I finished this book in 3 days.
