4.0 out of 5 stars Motorola Roadster2 April 2 2013
By Greg D
Verified Purchase
Had it for 1 month
I have it paired with a BB 9900
Liked it enough to get one for my wife - IPhone 4
Can't load the extra (Android) apps as they are not supported on these devices
Call quality is superb on both ends.
Requires minimal distraction to place calls - I button push to initiate hands free or voice dialing
Announces caller when there are incoming call with the callers name if it is in your contacts list and an "Answer" or "Ignore" request
Hands free or voice dialing works better with BB than with IPhone. I think it has more to do with the voice dialing function on the phone than the Motorola device.
Unit is discreet and fits securely on the visor
Battery lasts a week with 20 minutes of daily talk time - convenient recharging with car charger
Mine has turned off and restarted a couple of times for no apparent reason - quirky
FM works okay but the volume must be turned way up - not sure if that's a car stereo issue or a broadcast signal issue
Very easy to set up and get going - I read the instructions beforehand but didn't really need to. I have paired several other Bluetooth devices so I had some familiarity with that process.
Accepts multiple devices
Would prefer it could advance songs when streaming from BB but it is not a deal breaker
Overall - it is an excellent purchase and I would recommend this for anyone who does not have a hands free device built into their car. I prefer it over the earpiece devices.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Bluetooth Car Kit May 7 2013
Verified Purchase
I tried two other ones first and this one is the only one that worked so well. It was easy to set up & start using and the voice activation makes it totally hands-free - just press a button and ask it to call one of your contacts, and it does!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the price Dec 27 2013

The light up buttons and FM transmission are some of the best I've experienced.

If there was a negative, it doesn't pick up voice commands as well as another one I tested, but I think it's because the mic is too sensitive (rather than not enough) and I find I'm talking louder to overcome vehicle noise more than the limitation of the hardware itself.

1.0 out of 5 stars Motorola Roadster March 19 2014

I work for a tech company that manufacturers high end audio products, top of the food chain stuff, and this product from Moto is HORRIBLE. The audio codec is absolutely terrible, doesn't capture audio at any acceptable level and has numerous annoying notification noises.

1.0 out of 5 stars So much potential, so poorly executed Feb. 26 2014

The unit is amazing when it works as intended. Unfortunately it is very unreliable, and what's the point of having a Bluetooth device if it won't do its job when the phone rings?

The device often refuses to automatically power on when I get in the car. Sometimes I cannot even do it manually. Turning it off and on does nothing as it seems to have frozen (possibly in the "on" mode from last use, which may explain battery life falling grossly short of promise). Sometimes the only way to turn it on again is to plug in the charger, even if it still has a high or medium charge remaining.

This is my second unit, I returned the first one for the same reasons and the problems occurred again in the replacement device.

I bought this model because it was supposed to be fully automatic. I don't use the phone much when I drive so turning a device on and off every time I get in and out doesn't make sense to me, but I need one nevertheless for those few times when I do need to make or receive a call. This falls terribly short of my expectations.

2.0 out of 5 stars Its kind of Glitchy! Feb. 3 2014

After 8 to 9 months of using...

1- when I receive a phone call and it prompts me to say answer or ignore, it answers it any ways! no matter what I say or do! even if I stay silent, shout Ignore, say ignore, whisper ignore, whatever I do it still picks up the phone call!

2 - I live in Canada and the battery drains significantly if it drops below -15, very annoying! Also in very hot summer days as well.

3 - the music player works OK with my Motorola Xt-886, but the quality is very bad with my wife's HTC-One S!!!! I dont know how this is possible but on road trips its very annoying. However, the speaker's sound quality is good.

4 - Sometimes when the batter has no charge for a few days (which happens quite frequently during summer/winter!!!! see issue number 2) it takes a lot of time and effort to re-pair it with a phone that it was already paired with!

Overall: not satisfied for the almost 90$ that I spent on this unit. If I had bought it at it US 44~45$ price, it would be kind of worth it and as a (former) motorolla fan I am not impressed at all.

Overall voice quality is very clear but FM transmitter is not as clear the device. I experienced some distortion in the FM connection. Battery life is excellent. I use it a lot and still do not need to charge for more than a week.
