The Baha Men's mix of pop-drenched R&B, rap, and Bahamian junkanoo finally lifted the veteran band from obscurity with the inescapable single "Who Let the Dogs Out." Their follow-up attempts to continue the success of their good-natured music. The title single is a dance tune suitable for everyone from toddlers to mainstream clubbers; "Giddyup" could make a suitable sequel to "Dogs," while a rewrite of Harry Nilsson's "Coconut"--"Put the lime in the coconut"--manages to out-nonsense the original. The disc's other songs often proffer a lightly philosophical stance that's hardly profound but helps make the album very likable. "Normal" pushes a healthy live-and-let-live attitude. In turn, "Rich in Love" deals with a misguided gold digger who'd rather have a Bill Gates (!) than a Baha Man. Finally, the modernized doo-wop of "I Thank Heaven" is surprisingly sweet and doesn't spoil the party. --Rickey Wright

5.0 out of 5 stars From the BahaMen's greatest fan! Jan 6 2003
Format:Audio CD
I own everyone of the BahaMen CD, and this latest one is GREAT! The island rhythms of The Wave, Normal, Best Years of our Lives, and Break Away are terrific! A real "feel good" CD! Also the remix of Lime in the Coconut is unbelievable! Worth the price of the CD alone!

4.0 out of 5 stars whoa, I wasn't expecting this Jan 5 2003

I had previously given this cd a big thumbs down, I listened to 3 songs, then threw it in a box of items I was going to donate, well, my kids pulled the cd out and kept playing it. I decided to give it another try and focused on the different musical instruments, vocal mixes, and the fact that this is not the same as their previous cd's because of the absence of Nehemiah and the addition of three new men. The band stayed the same but has changed their playing to reflect a new era and still remain uniq to other bands, I play this cd quite often now and like the songs and the lyrics are fun on the faster songs. I think the vocals are good. The cd has some rap, disco, R&B and everything in between, I give it 4 stars for upbeat(makes you wanna shake it) and creativity.
