FOR HORROR FANS ON A BUDGET!,
By
This review is from: 4 Movie Marathon: Cult Horror Collection (DVD)
Universal Studios has presented (The Funhouse / Phantasm II / The Serpent and the Rainbow / Sssssss) on two single sided discs and the picture and sound quality is great! Each film is presented in its widescreen aspect ratio and the sound is in English Dolby Digital 2.0. English Subtitles are included using your DVD remote. These discs are as basic as they come; there are no menus, no scene selection and no special features. After putting the disc in you'll be prompted to highlight/select the movie you want to watch and that's it. What are you waiting for? Close the blinds turn out the lights and prepare to be creeped out! While I'd prefer to See Universal Studios release all four "Phantasm" films in one collection, I'm really not going to complain too much. It seems clear that these Horror Movie Marathon theme sets from Universal Studios are on the rise and this set is great for any horror fan on a budget. Four times the horror at one incredibly low price, how can you go wrong? You can still find all four movies on DVD separately but why would you want to spend all that extra money for nothing. Disc One Includes: The Funhouse Welcome to the Funhouse. Two young couples on a double date go to a mysterious carnival. They decide to play a prank on the owner and spend the night in the funhouse. After witnessing a vicious murder, the horrified couples quickly realize getting out of the Funhouse alive won't be easy. Will anyone survive the Funhouse? Phantasm II He's back! And he's brought more killer spheres. The tall man returns for another dose of horror in Phantasm II. After spending seven years in a mental hospital Mike seeks Reggie's help to bring down the tall man, once and for all. Will Mike and Reggie succeed? Disc Two Includes: The Serpent and the Rainbow "Don't bury me... I'm not dead!" A Harvard researcher travels to Haiti to collect a secret voodoo powder that places people into a state of simulated death. As he digs deeper with his investigation into the hidden world of black magic; it becomes so dangerous that he's caught up in a supernatural Voodoo nightmare. How will it end? Sssssss A college student named David Blake is looking for a job. Dr. Carl Stoner played by Strother Martin needs a lab assistant for his research and questionable experiments on snakes. It seems that the good doctor has secretly brewed up a serum that can transform any man into a King Cobra snake and he plans to use it. Will David be turned into a King Cobra?

Decent package of movies,
By N. Pawar "thestoneman" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: 4 Movie Marathon: Cult Horror Collection (DVD)
This is a decent package of fairly hard to find horror movies. Super cheap (msrp everywhere is 7-8 bucks), all widescreen with english subtitles. Only drawbacks are that it's 2 disks/2 movies per disk (single sided) and there's no dedicated movie menu. This means that there's no scene selection or special features (as far as I can tell); so a fairly bare bones package. Considering the fact that phantasm 2 is 20 bucks at retail anyway you're basically getting that movie +3 other decent flicks for a significant discount.

Nice collection at a great price,
By Rick H - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: 4 Movie Marathon: Cult Horror Collection (DVD)
It's unusual to find a multi-movie package where they're all pretty decent. This is a nice-price collection consisting of four movies that are of "drive-in theater" quality. "Sssssss" (1972) is great (or not-so-great) if you don't like snakes. Stars the late Strother Martin. "Serpent and the Rainbow" is one of my personal favorites starring Bill Pullman. "Phantasm II" is the sequel to the first Phantasm classic, and again directed by Don Coscarelli. I'm not as familiar with "The Fun House" but at this price, how can you go wrong for horror thrills? Highly recommended.
