5.0 out of 5 stars The best reason to get a Mr. Beer kit! May 29 2012

If you haven't read my other review, go do so :-), it talks about why to get yourself a Mr. Beer kit. I have made five different flavours, (one hasn't been sampled yet, I admit), and this one is by FAR my favourite. With a phenomenal smooth and textured taste, this one is the most complex of the four I have tried, and good enough at day one of the "drinkable" stage(which is normally two weeks from the point where the beer is actually tasty)that I immediately ordered another from Amazon, along with the St. Patrick's Stout. After aging the beer for a couple of weeks, the flavour has matured to one of the best beers I have ever had, and I made it myself! I did NOT expect to appreciate it when I made it (it was the last one out of a variety pack, as I thought I would like the others more), as I am not normally a fan of "Amber" beers, but this beer has none of the bitterness I normally taste in an amber. I can attest that everyone of my friends who have tasted the Mr. Beer product that I have made like this flavour best as well. If you are reading reviews in an effort to figure out which brew pack to choose, STOP. BUY THIS ONE, or any multipack that has it in it. You will thank me, I promise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Kit Beer Mar 20 2009

Makes a medium dark beer. It's not a true lager, because the yeast cultures at a higher temp, but it certainly makes a good beer. Small note: I "proofed" the yeast separately in some warm water in the can with leftover mix; ALL the water in a large pot with the mix, brought up to temp, stirred well and then left the wort to cool to ~100 degrees Fahrenheit before pouring into the brew keg and pitching the yeast. It was ready to bottle condition eight days later. Note: I've gotten consistently better bottle conditioning when using my "collection" of Grolsch swingtop bottles. Recommended. (Besides, they bottle 16oz instead of 12... :-))

5.0 out of 5 stars Compares to Germany's Best Beer Oct 5 2009

I am absolutely shocked that this beer is so good. I have not been able to find a beer like this since 1975 at a little gasthaus on top of a hill outside Frankfurt, Germany. Everyone that tried it agreed that it was an amazing beer. Ridiculously amazing beer, let it age an extra week and it is even better!!! Don't go through all of the complicated steps others suggest, just follow the instructions, give it an extra week and you to will be amazed at the quality and flavor of this beer...we added a 1/2 cup of sugar in the ferminter in one batch for extra alcohol and well...watch out, it had quite a kick!

I was born and raised in Germany and this is an excellent German Beer. Add a tbs brown sugar in the keg, let it stand one week longer and you will have an excellent german beer.
