3.0 out of 5 stars Average, April 19 2002
By
"July Lady" (MS United States) - See all my reviews
Duffy is not ready for the big step of marriage, that his longtime girlfriend Mel wants. Mel breaks things off with Duffy when she realizes he is not ready to marry her. Duffy tries to get over Mel but finds that it is not easy as he thinks. I throught the book was boring at parts, but a good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is how men would react....:), Mar 15 2002
By A Customer
The writer's view of how a man deals with commitment is somehow a real portrait of how men would react to commitment. It's a good book. Very funny and like I said, bold and honest...

4.0 out of 5 stars He writes like a girl!, Mar 6 2002
By
Theresa Mcdonald "Terri McDonald" (new orleans) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Mike Gayle writes like a girl, which in this case is a very good thing. Told from the perspective of the main character, Duffy this is basically yet another Bridget Jones knockoff except that Duffy is male, whereas all the other BJ wannabes are female. We see the trendy (and not so trendy) group of people he hangs out with, see the "smug marrieds" and other couples in his life against the backdrop of Duffy's own commitment issues when his long term girl friend Mel proposes to him. There are the usual drunken nights, misadventures, "finding" of one's self and of course a happy ending. All in all, I really enjoyed it. With all the fun shopping, wedding planning and pregnacny details this was just what this Brit Chick Lit fan needed. I hope to read more from Mr. Gayle soon.
