3.0 out of 5 stars holayy! July 23 2005

Format:Audio CD
Well, the movie was fab, so I thought I'd check out the soundtrack, and wow... it was quite something. I liked it, but does EVERY star-crossed-lovers movie's soundtrack have to have "Tainted Love" on it?

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Summer Soundtrack of the Year!!! Instant iPOD playlist! June 10 2005
By Snfu Bar - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Great film, I laughed sooo much. Anybody who's ever been in a relationship will relate to this film and laugh all the way through!

What a great and fun album. It's like an iPOD playlist ready to go! All *SEVENTEEN* songs tie in to the theme of the film of love, anti-love and spies! To me Album stands out and stands alone as perfect "summer love (anti-love?) party mix" in this age of Itunes and Ipods albums need to be smarter and better and this one is and does.

01. Love Stinks - The J. Geils Band (Classic 80s Pop Hit)

*** What a great way to start an album. Totally fun song captures the essence of the film straight up!

02. [F] Nothin' but a Good Time - Poison (in film!)

03. Tainted Love - Soft Cell (Classic 80s Pop Hit)

04. [F] *Baby, Baby - Alana D (Exclusive Cover of 80s Pop Hit in Film!)

05. [F] Express Yourself (Mocean Remix) - (Fight Scene!)

06. [F] Mondo Bongo - Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros (See Below for details used three times, it's really the movies theme... )

07. [F]*Lay Lady Lay - Magnet & Gemma Hayes (In Film See below)

08. *I Melt With You - Nouvelle Vague (New Lounge Cover of 80s Classic)

09. *Nobody Does It Better - 8mm (New Exclusive Cover of Movie Theme to the Famed Jamed Bond Film THE SPY WHO LOVED ME)

10. Let's Never Stop Falling in Love - Pink Martini (totally great fun song)

11. [F] Assassins Tango (Score) - John Powel (another GREAT song from the film!)

12. *Used to Love Her (But I Had to Kill Her) - VoodooGloSkulls (Ska Cover of Classic Guns & Roses song)

13. *You Are My Sunshine - Stine (did I mention fun yet?)

14. You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' - Righteous Brothers (Classic Song for Party Mix)

15. [F] Making Love Out of Nothing at All - Air Supply (in film See Below)

16. *You Give Love a Bad Name - Atreyu (Not on my Atreyu album so this must be unreleased. It's an awesome Cover of the eternally 80s Bon Jovi Song that really makes it fun and not to serious a version)

17. Love Will Keep Us Together - Captain & Tennille (Classic 70s Pop Song -great kitch)

-------FILM CUE ID / INFO-------

02. [F] Nothin' but a Good Time - Poison

- Brad Pitt driving dune buggy in desert. Really really fun scene!

04. [F] *Baby, Baby

- Brad and Angelina at party. Angelina plays with baby during cue.

05. [F] Express Yourself (Mocean Remix)

- Brad and Angelina fight to the death. MAJOR MOVIE MOMENT. This is a classic movie scene and will be looked at for YEARS to come.

06. [F] Mondo Bongo - Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros

- Used THREE TIMES at least 2 minutes EACH TIME. First use is when Brad and Anjolina meet. This is Brad and Anjolina's THEME SONG in the film.

07. [F]*Lay Lady Lay - Magnet & Gemma Hayes

- Brad and Angelina POST LOVE SCENE. Nothing on earth could possibly be hotter than a LOVE SCENE with Brad and Angelina. MAJOR MOVIE MOMENT.

11. Assassins Tango (Score) - John Powel

15. Making Love Out of Nothing at All - Air Supply

Again - wether you see the film or not this is a great summer party mix

5.0 out of 5 stars Too bad there aren't more soundtracks like this one March 27 2006
By Catherine White - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Not only was this soundtrack well-constructed to fit a high-paced, action/romance-type movie, but it is also attractive to a wide variety of personal musical tastes. From more traditional sounds like the latin Mondo Bongo and Pink Martini, to more pop rock sounds like Love Stinks and Poison, this collection is upbeat and fun to listen to from beginning to end. It has also proven to be an especially great CD to have on a road trip. I highly recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the iPod or to play in the convertible July 2 2005

Fun assortment of tunes from the movie soundtrack, thoughtfully and cleverly arranged & presented for moveigoers and musiclovers alike.

Thematically, this is a collection of Love You/Hate You songs both classic and updated. Definitely worth adding to your music library, even if you're not a "soundtrack" fan per se.

5.0 out of 5 stars Close your eyes and say aaahhhh! Oct. 24 2005
By Angie - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This is one of the most sensual and soothing albums I've heard in a while!! Much like another soundtack CD I'm quite fond of, the folksy "Crossing Jordan," "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" seduces your ear and your soul. I don't drink martinis, but if I did, when I came home from work this wonderful collection of songs would be on the stereo as I sipped and slipped into something more comfortable. Actually "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" IS what I've been putting on as I soon as I get home, the only difference is I drink Evian instead of martinis and put on an football jersey and baggy shorts instead of a negligee. (Okay...probably a little TMI there, I apologize!)

For me everything begins with track 6 (the lilting percussion number "Mondo Bongo.") Everything up to and including 5 is okay enough, but really...how many times can you hear "Tainted Love" and not get tired of it; it appears on so many compilations.

Just when "Mondo Bongo" promises to have you feeling the way you do after a good massage, "Lay Lady Lay" comes along and wows you with its duet featuring the gorgeously vocal Gemma Hayes and Magnet (the latter of whom I confess I've never heard of until now.) This version of "Lay Lady Lay" is officially now my favorite; it's the song version of a gentle and pleasing back scratcher.

"I'll Melt With You" and "Nobody Does It Better" continue to take you to your most zen moment, both covers (in my very humble opinion) far surpassing the originals (then again I'm not a big Carly Simon fan.) "Let's Never Stop Falling in Love" and "Assassin's Tango" are for those of you who can never quite control the urge to sashay and twirl across the living room (well, maybe you don't live alone like I do where you can break out into song and dance whenever you want.)

The rest of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" is decent enough but tracks 6-11 pull your soul strings the most. It doesn't hurt that the album ends on such a fun, nostalgic note with the wacky and wonderful "Love Will Keep Us Together," a ditty that never fails to take me back to 1975 and the first grade!
