Product Description

From Booklist

Ages 4^-7. Fresh artwork brightens the story of Jule Ann, who is attacked by a mud puddle every time she steps outdoors. Suomalainen also illustrated the 1982 edition, but his new pictures feature a more fluid, energetic style and full color on every page, rather than on alternate spreads. The growing popularity of Munsch's picture books and this edition's more appealing illustrations make this a likely choice for larger collections. Carolyn Phelan --This text refers to the Library Binding edition.

When Jule Anne walks out her door one day she finds a pesky mud puddle just waiting to jump on her. And if you think that's bad, just wait until you see the other tricks that puddle plays on her. But after being scrubbed clean over and over, Jule Anne comes up with a trick of her own to play on the unsuspecting mud puddle.
Bob Munsch has written yet another light hearted story to which every child can relate and most importantly, laugh about. With his masterful repetion and the fact that he seems to somehow truly know what it's like to be a kid, children will undoubtedly be glued to this story from beginning to end. My kindergarten class cheers each time they see me bring this book out.

My Class at the daycare love this one. we made up game and a craft to go with mud puddle, all the children love to take part in any munsch book. We have our own story all about a man named bob who is tiny and jumps into people's hair, so you have to shout " get out of my Hair Bob " and shake your head, we catch him and tell him to grow 3 times, he cant say at daycare anymore so he has to get as big as one of the daddies at school and go get a job and a house, he becomes a Barber so he can still be in peoples hair in a good wayand not bug people... this all came from Munsch so thanks.

This very funny story reminds me of my kids who always manage to get muddy each and every time they go to play. Like Jule Ann they rarely admit that they actually jumped in the mud. This is my sons favorite Munsch book. We have several that we collect. Our other favorite author is Boszenna Nowiki with her series Why Some Cats are Rascals.

I wasn't familiar with the story of Mud Puddle, but my 2.5 year old makes me read and re-read Munsch hits like Mortimer, I Have To Go, and The Paperbag Princess every night so I figured it was time to try a new title. I was a little disappointed that she seemed pretty uninterested in this story. I think the color-less illustrations are a little dull for younger children. It wasn't a bad story, but I expected more.

Ah I love this book! It's small 3 inch x 3 inch - I can't stress this enough to other people. But this size works well for keeping at the dining room table, tucked in the diaper bag, or using with potty training. The story itself is about a mud puddle that keeps jumping on the girl when she goes outside. It's a very cute story and my 2 year old loves it.

I buy a few now and then, stash them in the glove box or bottom of my purse. Whenever we are stuck waiting with the kids in traffic or the ER I have something new and just their size to entertain - that is not electronic!
