The Best Country Music Trilogy,
By Naimi M. "naimi_s" (Slidell, Louisiana United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mud On The Tires (Audio CD)
The ultimate country trifecta that began with "Who Needs Pictures?" and continued with "Part II", now reaches the next level on "Mud On The Tires". There aren't many recording artists today that I can honestly say improve with each new release. It's already well-known that Brad Paisley is a man with incredible talent on a guitar and with songwriting, but he proves here that he can continue to challenge himself musically and still shine. He's made some interesting vocal choices here that prove he's got the chops to compete with the top singers of today. The lyrics are clever when they mean to be, and the ballads evoke the complex emotions that so many of us have trouble putting into words. After the first listen, I could not forget the way "Whiskey Lullabye" and "Somebody Knows You Know" touched my heart. Paisley's "The Cigar Song" is one of the most intelligently written, humorous songs I've ever heard. With 17 tracks, you get a lot a bang for your buck and you come out with an album where a majority of the songs could easily be radio hits. If you're a country fan, I can't find a better reason to spend your money than to buy this cd.

Brad makes it three-in-a-row,
By BRIAN G PETTYJOHN (Georgetown, DE United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mud On The Tires (Audio CD)
It's amazing how an artist so young can have such a deep-rooted talent as Brad Paisley does in this follow-up to the hit album Part II. As before, most of the tracks of this album could easily become hits, and no doubt, this album will join Part II and Who Needs Pictures as multi-platinum successes. From the title track, you can see Brad's affinity for small-town, simple pleasures that make you smile when you hear them strung together. The hilarious antics of Spaghetti Western Theater with legends Bill Anderson, Little Jimmy Dickens and George Jones combined with Brad's amazing skills on the guitar surely make this a classic. The instrumental Make a Mistake With Me shows that you don't need his smooth vocals to show off his talents; the fast-fingered, crisp sounds from his guitars do plenty to that effect. Brad's uncompromising singing and songwriting on this album doesn't play to what normally sells big in Nashville. The mix of country, western, gospel, and contemporary country will have traditional country music lovers as well as the younger generation finding tracks on this album that will be among their all-time favorites.

sweet and funny,
By A Customer

Usually I buy a cd for 2 or 3 songs that have become hits on the waves. I was pleasantly surprised to hear more on this album than what has hit the radio stations, and it is all great. With few exceptions (I am not a big fan of the talking western, so the "Spaghetti Western" at the end leaves me kind of cold) I enjoyed the whole album. Whether the rest of his stuff hits the charts or not, I will still love the cd, and that's something I haven't been able to say since Garth Brooks.
