I received this as a gift. It has been sitting in our nursery while we awaiting our little one.

The blue nightlight that is "always on" drove me nuts. Judging from other reviews, it is driving other people nuts. Luckily, it isn't too difficult to fix. Simply unscrew the four screws holding the case together (you will need a small, long, skinny screwdriver). Pull it apart carefully. The front-end half of the case (where the nightlight button on top is) is mildly hooked into the top piece. Wiggle it until the top ring comes undone. Once you have identified the evil small blue light, simply use scissors to cut one of the two small metal pieces that connect to the light. Once you re-assemble it, the always on blue light will be killed, but the rest of the functions (including the nightlight when you press the button) will work just fine. Hope this helps someone else.

Warning This product is overrated by the flawed rating system. The product has a short life-time. Most reviews are good because people review after a couple days/weeks of use, and don't bother coming back when the machine dies.

I'll make this simple for you. When this product works, it's worth a 5star easy, great machine honestly. The problem here is quality of the product. The projector on ours stopped working after about one year (which is a very common issue when reading online). Also very common issue by reading online, disk stops rotating (this didn't happen to us). And also sometimes the speaker can fail.

So bottomline, if you think 30$ is good to rent a machine for a year, then go for it. If you want it for more then a year, then the price is 30$/year.

Weirdly enough the product has a 1year warranty, and most of the problems comes out RIGHT at the 1year mark. Hold on to your invoice, it might break down after 10-11months if you're lucky.

This is a lifesaver when we finally decided to transition our 6-month old from co-sleeping to sleeping on the crib. She was waking up 4-5 times at night prior to us using this product. I finally figured out that it was just too quiet in her bedroom. I couldn't use the fan to create white noise because the weather has gotten colder. This product is so worth it! I use the white noise while she's sleeping. During naps, I like to use the Mozart option or the lullaby. The blue nightlight is also a nice feature. I think my baby feels more securely at night with the blue light on. She's been waking up just once at night to feed.

There is no on/off button though. This means if you keep it plugged, the nightlight button(not the nightlight itself) stays lit. I just keep it unplugged when not in use. That way, it's not consuming power.

Compared to other sound systems this is one of the cheapest in cost which was why it was hard to believe that it was any good but after some research and hearing how great this product actually was I had to see for myself. I LOVE this sound machine! and I think my daughter does too!!! not often you come across such a great product for such a great deal. Has 3 lullabies, 3 Mozart, heart beat, white noise, rain and ocean plus 3 different projection images that spin and can be aimed to your convenience. A great feature is the option to have voice activation on or off which I gotta say has saved our sleep quite a few times and to top it all off it also has a nightlight! It is a very light and small machine which is great if you're planning to put it on a dresser among other things.

All in all I love it and I highly recommend it!

We used the Conair sound machine for the first 3 months with our newborn, but when it was time to move him to his crib/nursery we wanted to get a second white noise machine. We looked around and this one, with the extra features of the projector and night light seemed like a good fit.

The good:
- the volume is good - it can get pretty loud
- has a variety of sounds, although we only use the white noise
- the white noise sounds "pure"...the Conair machine, both my husband and I can hear "patterns" in the sound, and it drives us crazy. It actually keeps us awake vs. putting us to sleep. This machine is just static-y white noise, no "patterns"
- the projector does a decent job of distracting him if he's upset on the change table before bed, though we don't use it to put him to sleep
- there's a timer on it, but also it was a surprise to discover the machine had a sound sensor on it so that if the baby started to cry or make noise, the sound/projector (whatever you left it on before setting the timer) it would turn back on again. I didn't realize it would have this feature, which is nice, however we leave the white noise on all night (don't use the timer) so we don't make use of this function at this stage

The bad:
- the button to turn on the nightlight shines REALLY brightly, almost brighter than the nightlight itself. I have to lay two cloth wipes over it to dim the light enough so that it's not so bright, but gives me enough light for dream feeds
- both the nightlight and the button to turn on the nightlight shine blue. It's pretty well known that blue hued light is a stimulant...not exactly the best choice for a baby nursery. It would be so much better if Munchkin made both of these using red light...which is best to aid sleeping

My husband is going to try and disable the nightlight button so it's not so bright, but otherwise we are very happy with this machine.
