MORTIMER! Be Quiet!,
By
This review is from: Munschworks 2: The Second Munsch Treasury (Hardcover)
Mortimer is the best story in here and my favourite Munsch story. I'm not that fond of Red Yellow Green and the artist is not as good. However overall these stories will be enjoyed by young and old alike. This was when Munsch was still doing his best work.

Wonderful Books,
By Anne Salazar "inveterate reader" (Huntington Beach, CA United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Munschworks 2: The Second Munsch Treasury (Hardcover)
When I was in Canada a few years ago I bought a copy of "Murmel, Murmel, Murmel"--in fact I bought three copies! I had never heard of Munsch before, but this little book ("Murmel . . .") caught my eye because it is about a little girl who finds a baby who can only say "Murmel . . .", and the little girl tries to find someone to care for the baby. At the time, my granddaughter was in foster care and did not understand why she was not with her mother, but when we read this book (over and over again!), she finally had some understanding that maybe a mother can't care for her children, but someone else would love to! Great author, such understanding and compassion! Good illustrations. I'm glad they are finally available in the US.

Parents and children will enjoy the creativity of Robert Munsch. These are the storylines of real life, such as kids needing bathrooms after fully dressed to go out, ordeals of school copycats, the trips to the grocery store with the whole family in tow. The illustrations capture the humor of childrens' points of view and misunderstandings. My adult kids adored these books as little children and we are now introducing them to the next generation. These were my favorite books to read to them and will be yours too!!

My children love this book, so I love to give this to new parents as a baby gift. It's a great read-aloud book with stories that are entertaining enough to keep the interest of 2 year olds all the way up to 10 year olds.
