I needed this book for my JSP and Sevlets course, i was happy to find it was cheap on Amazon. More importantly, besides the basic textbook readout on how to do things it has some nice "Do it yourself" style labs which are good to get the basics down of what you just read.

Simply put, the best programming book I've since in the past 12 years.

The author(s) don't waste time with small jokes or useless talk. Straight forward instructions with realistic examples that will help you get the best out of the tools presented (NetBeans/MySQL/TomCat). All chapters work towards a realistic example (no "space ship fuel control system" or "atomic bomb detonator"), that is completely functional and error free.
Makes me wonder why haven't I read Murach's books before.

not much word detail to mess up with reader's mind, in the other way, it explains simple examples clearly. You can easily start to program servlet and Jsp after reading it. To be honest, this book is all you need for developing servlet and JSP.
