Book Description

Sept. 4 2012 Scumble River Mystery (Book 15)
New York Times Bestselling Scumble River Series

When ex–Vegas showgirl and local business owner Bunny Reid starts an online dating service called Cupid’s Cat’s Meow, out-of-town visitors flock to her bowling alley for the speed dating and cat show events that she hosts to bring in extra cash. Bunny’s scheme sounds harmless enough, but school psychologist Skye Denison knows all too well that an influx of strangers in Scumble River always spells trouble….

Meanwhile, Skye is convinced that her house is haunted and is afraid her fiancé, police chief Wally Boyd, won’t move in until the ghost moves out. But ghost-hunting takes a back seat when Skye is called to the bowling alley, where a riled up contestant is choking a cat show judge for insulting his feline. Skye breaks up the scuffle, but the next morning the judge’s dead body is found, strangled with a cat toy. Now Skye must solve this purrplexing mystery—and show a devious killer that her sleuthing skills are the cat’s meow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Murder of the Cat's Meow Sept. 25 2012

(This book is a new Scumble River series story. Although several characters go from book to book, each book stands alone. I have all of them and have enjoyed all of them. If you've not read any, you'd never know that this was not a first book.)

Ex-show girl Bunny Reid has decided to have a pet cat show and a speed-dating meeting at her bowling alley while her son is out of town. It has caused an influx of people and an attack on one of the judges who has insulted one of the owner's cat! The judge is extremely nasty and sarcastic to everyone, but this owner, a not normal person who has conversations with God, acts! Skye Denison, school psychologist, is called to come do something! She stops the attack.

The person checking the speed-dating preferences succumbs to bribery, and gives partners for a date to someone they hadn't wanted. To add insult to injury, the DJ is terrible.

The next morning the judge's body is discovered. The man who had attacked her confesses, but he says he stabbed her. Actually, she was strangled!

Skye has been renovating an old house she loves, but it seems to be haunted by the previous owner. Whenever she and her fiance get amorous, something crashes or otherwise disturbs them.

The story is intriguing, fun to read, and entertaining.

The book I read is a paperback with 250 pages. I highly recommend it.

I've read nearly all of this series. Each book is a fun read. Murder of the Cat's Meow is no exception. I love that the returning characters continue to have depth and we learn more about them with each new book. After a stressful day at work, I can unwind by reading Denise Swanson's books; knowing that they will, in fact, relieve the stress of the day. Thanks Denise Swanson for keeping this series interesting and fun. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Murder of the Cat's Meow with Wispersynch Oct. 21 2012
By Bren - Published on

I am a fan of Denese Swanson's Scumble River Mystery, so I would have read the book anyway. The main reason I got the Kindle version is that I also have an Audible membership and this was a book that had the Audible version available. With a trip coming up, it was a good opportunity to test the Wispersynch for Voice concept. It worked great! The book on my Kindle Fire synched with the location of the audiobook. It also synched with the location on my Ipod. Because of bluetooth, I tend to listen on my Ipod, but everything synched just perfectly with my Kindle Fire. It has always been on my wish list while traveling to be able to continue reading the book from where the audiobook left off once I arrived at my designation. Great feature .. thank you Amazon.
