Product Description

From Amazon.com

The made-for-TV Murder in Greenwich is a true crime story with a twist: the sleuth in pursuit of the truth here is former LAPD detective Mark Fuhrman, who gained infamy during the O.J. Simpson trial. Greenwich opens in 1997 with Fuhrman (Christopher Meloni of Oz), having relocated to Idaho and become a successful author, obsessed by the murder of Martha Moxley, a young woman from a wealthy Connecticut family who was brutally killed by an unknown assailant 22 years earlier. Fuhrman heads east, where his presence causes friction with the local law. But with the help of a retired cop (Robert Forster) who worked on the case, Fuhrman cuts through a maze of mismanaged investigations and cover-ups to place new suspicion on Moxley's wastrel neighbors, the Skakel brothers, who have familial ties to the Kennedys. Excellent performances by Meloni and Forster and direction make this a worthwhile case for true-crime buffs. --Paul Gaita

4.0 out of 5 stars well paced account of the highly publicised murder of Martha Moxley(one account, anyway), July 28 2007

this movie is based on the real life murder of Martha Moxley,(and subsequent aftermath(,years later) a 15 year old girl who lived in Greenwich, a wealthy neighbourhood in Connecticut .it's based on a book by Mark Fuhram, former Los Angeles police officer.as a result the movie depicts events according to Fuhrman.anyway, the movie chronicle's Furhman quest to find the killer and bring closure to the case(and Martha's mother).i won't say how the movie shows this, but it is an interesting way to tell the story.it's not the conventional way of telling a story, but it is effective.the movie is fairly fast paced and taut, giving the viewer as much information as needed to tell the story, and not too much more.this may bother some, who prefer more detail in their movies.i didn't mind it though.the acting performances are good all around.Christopher Meloni is quite good as Fuhrman and Robert Forster is also good as one of the original cops at the scene of the murder.overall, i really liked this movie.it's not predictable, and it is compelling, even engrossing.for me,"Murder in Greenwich" is a 4/5

2.0 out of 5 stars Martha Moxley Told Straight, May 24 2004

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Murder in Greenwich (DVD)
Well, this movie just isn't good. All the elements are fairly interesting. There's Kennedy's. There's Mark Fuhrman. There's a true unsolved murder begging for justice. With those ingredients, one would think it would be hard to misstep. But misstep the movie does, telling the story straight ahead with little lent to creativity, little lent to drama. There's just the glorification of OJ-case detective and the unraveling of a mystery that has been unraveled on the 5 o'clock news.

This movie smacks of made for TV and there is a reason for that...it was made for TV. The actor playing Tommy Skakel turns in a fairly convincing performance, he gets to act mysteriously cool throughout the movie with few lines. We don't really get to know Michael Skakel which would have been an interesting angle to spin the tale. The most unique thing of the movie is the narration from Martha Moxley herself, but alas the dialogue is fairly straightforward trite.

We have witnessed the death of the Made For TV mini-series running for consecutive nights or consecutive weeks because who really has the time to make an engagement with one's TV night after night to endure lukewarm dumbed down hack-ery. "Murder in Greenwich," isn't total hack mind you, but it comes awe fully close. Don't be lured in by the intriguing cover in the rental store. Pass it by.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and informative, Jun 27 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Murder in Greenwich (DVD)
After reading the book (you know the book is always better) I was just sure the movie couldn't live up to that. You do, in fact, get more from the book, but I thought the movie did a fine job telling Martha's story. The way the actress (I can't remember her name) narrated the story as if it were really Martha telling it was very compelling. It sort of drew you in to the story and made it more personal. I found it to be a well-acted and well told story. Thank goodness Mr. Fuhrman did get involved and helped to get this case solved. The one crucial thing that needed to be done was to bring justice to a beautiful young girl and her family and to have her story tastefully told and I think both the movie and the book did just that.
