Book Description

January 2007
Jennifer Shane is stunned when she's named Businessperson of the Year, but she's even more shocked when, at the presentation ceremony, Chamber of Commerce President Eliza Glade, over-dressed, over-made-up, and over-the-top, is killed. Jen and her sister Sara Lynn were among her worst enemies, so they'll have to bend over backwards to clear their names. And an easy resolution is not in the cards.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good "cozy" mystery Jan. 2 2007
By Armchair Interviews - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Jennifer Shane left her sister's scrapbooking shop to open Custom Card Creations, a specialty card store in Rebel Forge, Virginia. Jennifer is named Businessperson of the Year, but isn't able to enjoy the honor because the Chamber President, Eliza Glade's body is discovered just as she's about to receive the award.

Anyone could be the murderer as Eliza has numerous enemies among the townspeople. But Jennifer's sister, Sara Lynn tops the list. As Jennifer tries to clear her sister's name (with the help of their aunt Lillian) another body is found and the stakes rise. The next murder just might be Jennifer.

Elizabeth Bright writes an engaging and fast read and incorporates interesting information about card making while solving the murders. There was one glaring mistake that the author and editor didn't catch. It's a timeline element where Jennifer was supposedly at a shop one morning, when it actually was the day before that she had been at the shop talking with a suspect.

Armchair Interviews says: Even with the glaring timeline mistake, Murder and Salutations is a good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars murder & salutations Feb. 2 2007
By Francesca Sanders - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is the first book I've read in this series, and I liked it a lot. It wasn't the greatest cozy I've read, but I'll probably buy the first two and read them. I enjoyed Jennifer a lot; she was probably my favorite part of the book. The mystery wasn't too difficult to solve, though. The best part was Jennifer and the supporting cast in Rebel Forge, VA.
3.0 out of 5 stars Murder and Salutations July 16 2014

This is the third book in the series, but it works as a stand alone mystery. Jennifer Shane is the owner of a card shop who likes to snoop into police investigations when they touch those close to her. These books are fun, quick reads. I like the mystery part, but the side storylines are confusing. Jennifer and her ex-fiance have a bizarre relationship. She's insistent that they are wrong for each other, but never really explains what went wrong. They are obviously attracted to each other and he is thoughtful of her. This just makes the way she treats him most of the time seem mean. Meanwhile, her best friend has a boyfriend with no apparent appeal.

I love all cardmaking mysteries, some good hints at the end
