I seem to break these quite a bit. Buy a few packages. You don't want to get stuck without them.

I hit a rock in deep snow and sheared the auger bolts. They were the same quality as the Sears replacement parts at a a huge savings!

5.0 out of 5 stars A few bucks saved my snow blower. Feb. 20 2014
By T. Morris - Published on Amazon.com
I didn’t buy them here but darn glad I did have them on hand. Last year I grounded the teeth off the drive gear in my Sears Snow Thrower… it’s made of brass so it will fail before it destroys anything else. However, the shear pin is the first line of defense and I never checked the bolts when I purchased my unit used. It had regular bolts that wouldn’t shear so it slowly stripped my gear… and that’s a whole day tearing it down and rebuilding it. This year I was ready and when my blades clogged up with some dead weeds that I couldn’t see one of the pins sheared… as it should. If you think these are a frivolous purchase then wait until that brass gear goes and you’ll wish you had these installed… and a backup supply. My blower has a pin on each side for each blade but you can find them at a better price by shopping around a bit… I got mine on that big auction site. The description states… “Shear Bolt Kits contains a shear bolt, nut, washer, and spacer” and there’s no washer in what I received… and it’s not really needed. Anything that works as intended to save major damage on a heavy piece of equipment gets 5-stars in my book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well, they're bolts, and they work March 14 2013

My snow thrower came with one spare shear bolt, which I needed a few years ago. When a second one busted, I was worried about finding a replacement. Some resort to substituting standard bolts and hardware, which will work, but jeopardizes both safety and protection of the equipment. These were a perfect fit for my Yard King branded snow thrower--and I suspect several other brands which share Murray parts. I ordered a couple of sets so I'd have more spares for the future and they arrived well before the next snow. I'm hesitant to say I "love" them, as a 5-star review indicates--they're just bolts and loving bolts is kinda weird--but they were exactly what I needed.
2.0 out of 5 stars expensive price, I would have returned it if it was not so expensive to ship back. March 24 2014

it is a pair of shear bolts. I purchased it because I was desperate; however, within a few hours of purchase I located these same shear bolts for 2 dollars a pair. I realize you need to make money, but this is price gouging.
