Maarten Koningsberger is a magnificent baritone and I could listen to him all day. The beauty and warmth of his voice is enhanced by an intimate knowledge of how early music should be performed. His ornaments are elegant and subtle, yet never over the top. His lutenist Fred Jacobs is a master of the instrument, and what a treat to hear these magnificent songs accompanied by an instrument from the era. If you like early music, this CD will not disappoint.
