Product Description

The PlacesThe tour of Paris starts with the Eiffel Tower and includes the famous landmarks of the French capital, the Churches of Notre-Dame and the Sacré Coeur, the Opéra Garnier and the great river, the Seine, that runs through the city. The tour ends with a nocturnal view of Paris and an excursion to Chartres, with its magnificent cathedral. The MusicMusic for the tour is by Beethoven, who at one time seemed to hope for employment in Paris. His Eroica Symphony was at first intended as a celebration of his one-time hero, Napoleon, but reflected, in the end, his disillusion when Napoleon had himself crowned as Emperor. The music used also includes Beethoven's Coriolanus Overture, written, not for Shakespeare's play, but for a contemporary drama by Heinrich von Collin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!!! Jan. 22 2014
By Carlos A. Padilla - Published on Amazon.com
By far the best travel video I have ever watched. Photography is superb, it is almost better than actually being there. Music is just as excellent. I wish I could know when each piece is played, I could recognize the most popular ones as Debussy, Verdi, Puccini and Faure, but quite a few pieces I just could not guess which piece was being played, but nevertheless I enjoyed both the video and the music very much. I will be watching this video and all the other Naxos travel videos very often. So glad to have Prime to enjoy these wonderful videos. Thanks Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely visions and music July 31 2013
By George Goldberg - Published on Amazon.com
Beautifully made film of Paris and environs. The camera always moves very slowly with none of the fast cuts which chop up most modern films. The sites are of course all lovely, a cornucopia of art - architecture, sculpture, painting, gardening, civic planning - unsurpassed anywhere in the world. The music is well chosen, mostly instrumental, by great composers who are not all French but were associated in some way with Paris. An altogether satisfying hour of sight and sound.

Ah, Paris. The filming was well done and visually stunning. I especially liked the different angles of the Eiffel Tower that were shown at the beginning of the movie.

Not really a good quality product, places shown are not identified as they are shown so you have to guess what you are watching except for iconic places like Eifel Tower....etc. only saw first portion and turned it off.........
