A good effort!, July 6 2007
To be honest, I wasn't thrilled when I heard the album. In fact, I was kind of disappointed. I was expecting a little more out of it since it took 3 years to make. But hearing it over and over again, I started to really enjoy the album, especially songs like "Maybe" and "Sober". But it is no comparison to "Breakaway". Maybe Kelly should have listened to Clive and have a little help with the writing process.
Though this album was a good effort!

Clarkson write and excellent album, Aug 25 2007
Kelly Clarkson's third disc made headlines even before it was released; mainly due to the conflicts between Clarkson and Clive Davis over which songs to put on the album. Naturally, Kelly received negative press for not giving into RCA and I applaud her for that. That's the main reason why I bought the album because todays music for the most part is awful; and we can thank the record companies for that.
The album begins with Never Again which is more rock oriented and a catchy chorus. I can understand why it would turn people off but that's your typical tween for you. Then the next batch of songs are all quite good; Sober being a real standout. The only song I am not very fond of is Maybe even though I know many others like that song the most, I'm not sure but I just don't get into it, it's probably because the band is very low key and I like it when the band plays loud.
How I Feel has single potential definitely, I also really liked Yeah as well. Can I Have A Kiss, I don't care for at all, not sure why. Then the album closes with probably the best tune on the entire album, "Irvine." Clarkson manages to show us her true vocal ability and excellent song writing capabilities in this one song. It is just fantastic, I couldn't praise it enough.
All in all, there are only two "iffy" songs on the album but that's not out of the norm for any album. I think Clarkson made an excellent disc without some old fart telling her what to do. This disc isn't even much more different than Breakaway to be honest. There is a little more rock in it but How I Feel, Irvine, Don't Waste Your Times, Judas, Sober, etc. could have been on the Breakaway album and no one would have noticed. The only reason this album didn't sell as well yet is due to the bad publicity of the Davis vs. Clarkson feud. Maybe Davis shouldn't have said bad things about the album, why the hell would he want his own artist to fail? Anyways, excellent album, and definitely worth buying if you like Kelly Clarkson.

Kelly's Best CD!, Jan 6 2010
While I know that this is either the "Kelly CD Nobody's Heard Of" or the "Kelly CD Everybody Hates"... (I used to not be a Kelly Fan, then I randomly searched up CD's, thinking that I wasn't too familiar with this artist ad could possibly like her... I recognized all the album covers except for this."... I enjoy this CD of hers the most. That was a very long sentence. Anyway, here I will give a song-by-song review of the "Kelly CD Nobody's Heard Of":
#1 Never Again: The first single from the album and a very bitter song it is. It has a rockish sound to it, it's catchy, and it seems so real. 4.5/5
#2 One Minute: This is one of the two songs on the CD that is not so raw. In fact, you can hear the overproduction in every note... It's catchy but at the same point quite annoying. It's also one of the two songs that sounds fake. This song is about the frequent change of emotions (One minute you laugh, the next minute you're slowly sinking into something black"... but it just sounds like a poppy dance tune. I find it would have been interesting (and random) if she could show her change of emotions; maybe act like everything's fine in the verses, but lash out in the chorus, just like the song says... but instead she just sounds happy the whole way through. 3/5
#3 Hole: This is the other of the two that doesn't sound real. I love the sound, it's very rockish. But technically she's just singing "There's a hole, inside of me, it's so cold, slowly killing me" like it means nothing at all. But the thing is this album was created during a very dark time in her life, so you would assume she could make it sound genuine. Anyway, it's still catchy. 4/5
#4 Sober: This song is amazing. It shows raw emotion... I read somewhere that Kelly said it wasn't necessarily about an alcohol addiction (she has ever been an alcoholic), but the fact that if you try... you can make it happen. Like making three sober months happen. One of the most beautiful and emotional songs on the album. 5/5
#5 Don't Waste Your Time: This song could be on Breakaway, it seems so true but it's very radio-friendly. I love it. In fact, I find this is one of those many songs where you know she's singing from her heart... 4.5/5
#6 Judas: The beginning of this song is a bit scary, at this moment in my review I'm going to insert two characters, creating one thing that some of you people might not get, :P. It's another one of those rockier songs, about betrayal. And, while it sounds true, it doesn't sounds as real as Sober or Don't Waste Your time, and it's a teensy bit boring. 3.5/5
#7 Haunted: This song was inspired by a person she knew who committed suicide. It's emotional, sad, dark... but good, just like the rest of the album. 3.75/5
#8 Be Still: I'm one of those people who normally like acoustic music, and this is a very acoustic song. It's pretty but maybe a bit boring. 3.75/5
#9 Maybe: This song really grew on me. At first it was one of those songs that was really boring, just used to fill in the album. Now I hear the emotional vulnerability, and I see how anybody can connect. 4.5/5
#10 How I Feel: This song is basically about how she feels... she'll end up alone in life, but she doesn't like people telling her that things will get better, when she knows they never will. This song is catchy and I'm sure many people like it because when I bought the album there was a sticker that said something along the lines of "Including the hits Never Again, Sober, One Minute, and How I Feel" Wow... that song's not even a single. 4/5
#11 Yeah: This song is a song that's not so grim, moody, blue, depressing, dark, haunting, emotional or sad. It's the other song that is over-produced But it's SUPER random. And the only good part is the bridge, so 2/5
#12 Can I Have A Kiss: This song also grew on me, It's a little bit boring, I'm not too fond of the lyrics... but it's not bad.3.25/5
#13 Irvine: This song was written when Clarkson was performing in Irvine, California on her Breakaway tour. She was feeling so low, she couldn't smile... she wrote this song in a bathroom, as a prayer. And it's probably the realest, most heartbreaking, rawest song on the CD. Or in the World. 4.75/5
Hidden Track: Chivas: This song is in the same track as Irvine, but it pops up about a minute and a half after Irvine finishes. So, if you're wondering why the track is eight minutes long and the song finishes with about four minutes left that's why. It's more bluesy and her voice is just beautiful. But this song isn't bluesy like Thankful Bluesy. It's more like singing in a cafe in New York bluesy. 4.7/ 5
Average Rating: 3.675
P.s. I also want to say that this album is so realistic... if you're one of those emo artists who always release dark albums it's just a mask you're putting on, but it's over an over. This was mostly about a Cheater in her life who made her so depressed. Releasing just one album like this proves it's genuine, and not just over-and-over-again dark sounding music just for fun. A.k.a. Evanescence.
