5.0 out of 5 stars Roland Hayes: Pivotal Musician in American History Jan 31 2011

Roland Hayes was a courageous pioneer in a difficult time in history. He experienced a moment similar to Jesse Owens' in the 1936 Olympics -- but about 15 years before. To have this book of his arrangements of what he called Aframerican songs is a significant part of an understanding of Hayes and his work.

I have not used these yet, but I bought them because Roland Hayes was the premiere tenor of his day. He did quite well, despite the racist times. I am still investigating the interesting piano parts.
