Kim Hiorthøy goes for some jump-up goodness as he kicks off MY LAST DAY, as the energetic "I Thought We Could Eat Friends" hops into action before letting the relaxed organ and old-skool samples of "Beats Mistake" take over. Similarly, "Skuggan" starts with a slightly de-tuned piano that plinks its melody even as the train-track beats run over it. The calm woodwind-and-piano combination on "Same Old S***" leads naturally into the beat-and-piano (and various kitchen implements) of "Den Långa Berättelsen Om Stöv Och Vatten." "Goodbye To Song" and "Wind Of Failure" continue the lighter touch, but the rhythm is still unmistakable. On the other side of the spectrum, however, is the high-pitched and almost squeaky "Album" that's like a breakdancer on speed, while "Alt Går Så Langsomt" gets into some dark-tinged techno. The de-tuned piano returns on "I'm This I'm That," but only to wave goodbye to an intriguing album.
