From Amazon

Rather than delving into what is toxic about the mother-daughter relationship, Barbara McFarland and Virginia Watson-Rouslin map a path toward reconciliation. In the end there may not be a happy reunion, and daughters may even come to the conclusion that their mothers were wrong about a lot of the important things. But My Mother Was Right might help baby-boomer daughters discover the morsels of strength and wisdom they gained from their mothers.

Review

"The authors' persistent willingness to find validity in the perspectives of mothers and daughters alike offers a model for those who hope to improve relations with their own parents or children."

"Like a bracing cup of hot tea, this book fortifies the soul. Daughters in midlife and their aging mothers will find much that is comforting." --Eleanor Clift, Newsweek

"This thoughtful book examines the complexities of the mother-daughter relationship, helping women recognize the profound impact of their mothers on their lives."

3.0 out of 5 stars Important the purchaser knows who the book is written for., Sep 17 1998

This review is from: My Mother Was Right: How Today's Women Reconcile with Their Mothers (Hardcover)
This book is written for daughters in their late 40's and early 50's. It deals with the need they have to reconcile with their mothers. I bought the book believing it would help me reconcile with my 30 year old daughter. I found no value in the book for that purpose. However, it's terrific for the purpose it was written.

5.0 out of 5 stars A warm, honest and comfortable book, Aug 17 1998

This review is from: My Mother Was Right: How Today's Women Reconcile with Their Mothers (Hardcover)
Reading this book I found my mother and myself. When we were not there I saw my friends and their mothers. I laughed most of the time and sometimes I found myself feeling plain old lucky that I did not have a mother as some others did. It was a comfortable book to read, not quite a novel but not a self-analyzing book either, it fell in-between. I enjoyed the insight and honesty of the authors and all the people they interviewed.
