This book is awesome. it is deffenitly the best book i have ever read. i would probably read it again if i liked books but it seems that i hate them. i like the story of how davy gets drunk and gets horizontal with maxi. he finally starts to make friends but that all ends when maxi gets naked and drunk. She goes swimming and dies. he was sad. Davy went on a drinking bingeand wound up in the gutter.

This was a very good and scary book. It shows the truth of what happens to an alcoholic when they don't get help. When I first took this book off the shelf of the public library here, I was a bit skeptical of it because of the title. But since I've read it, it is one of my favorite books in the world!!

A Great Non-Preachy Book About Teenage Alcoholism Aug. 13 2010
By Philip Turanga - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
This is one of the best YA books that have gone out of print. I'm amazed that it's not still being taught in 8th-9th grade English classes. It's a very realistic story on what effects alcohol can have on an average teenager. The character of Davy is pretty accurate as to the type of child who would be likely to become an alcoholic. Home alone for hours at a time after school, shy, no friends, and alcohol available at his house. It's an excellent book that is loved even by kids who hate read.
GREAT!! Feb. 22 1999

Format: Hardcover
This is one of the best books i have ever read. when davy drank, he was on top of the world. liquor had even helped him meet a girl named maxi. davy and maxi drank together, loved together, and even got sick together. until the sickness started to get really bad-convulsions and hallucinations made life a nightmare. and suddenly davy and maxi weren't just kids having fun. suddenly they were in trouble they couldn't handle. you all should really read this. it's excellent!!!
It Showes the Chilling Truth About Alcohol Dec 30 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
When Davy drinks, he feels free. All of his problems disappear. It's even how he met a girl named Maxi. Maxi and Davy did everything together, they drank, they laughed, they loved. Then, Maxi started to have convulsions due to the alcohol and wanted to get help. Davy didn't think he needed it, and stopped showing up to meetings. After a tragic accident, Davy realizes his problem and gets help.

I loved it Dec 22 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
It wa a very good book that shows how Davy's life is effected by his addiction to alcohol. Alcohol was everything to him. At first Davy was in denial about being ancoholic, but then realized that he need help. This is a very good book and I was very shocked at how alcohol has an outcome on people.
