Amazingly catchy, May 22 2001

The first track is probably the catchiest electronic music song I've ever heard. It comprises elements of two-step, IDM, and drum&bass and it leaves you humming the song for hours and hours. There's a [not so good] remix of that song on the EP plus three other songs - one of which is "hidden" - but none of these is nearly as amazing as "Red Hot Car". An absolute must!

Leave it to Squarepusher, Aug 8 2003

Much like AFX, the Pusher always seemed capable of cranking out a hit single at any time, given his gift for melody. When he finally does come up with something the masses could conceivably glom onto, naturally he gussies it up with mock-obscene lyrics.
Too bad; I can see my wife and kids even getting into this, but given their age and her aversion to naughty words it just isn't going to happen. Upon reflection, it's perfectly in keeping with his perverse sense of humor, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Five stars for the two versions of "My Red Hot Car" and "Hardcore Obelisk," but minus one for the annoying gap between "I Wish You Obelisk" and the "hidden track." Maybe I'm thick, but I don't get the joke. Holding the skip button down on my cd player for five minutes isn't as stimlating as one might think.

I ordered this for my grandson (seems I never get to order stuff for myself) and he loves it.
