If you have ever lost a family member, you know the grief that comes with that experience. I recently lost a sibling and the grief that comes with that is unbearable at times. I can't imagine the emotions that would have been involved if another family member would have been responsible for her death.

I read this emotion filled book in only a few short days. Though it was a quick read....it was so far from an easy one. Throughout the book, I kept asking myself, what would I have done? I still ask myself that. I cannot answer that. All I know is I hope I have half the wisdom and strength as was shown by the characters in My Son, John.

This book was a wonderful example of God's grace, forgiveness and mercy, even in the toughest of life's circumstances. When we cannot possibly understand how we will get through, we do, because of Him. If He brings us to it, He will bring us through it. We just have to give up all control and rest in His arms, and allow Him to carry us, just as Liz did.
In the back of the book the author has discussion questions that go along with each of her chapters. There is a helpful "resource" section also in the back to help people learn more about prison ministries. Listed are ministries you can get involved with and their websites, along with other helpful information. This is a great resource for people who want to witness to those in prison and their families.
