I have several third grade students who did not like to read. I introduced them to the wonderful world of Dan Gutman and this series. I now have students begging me to buy more as they can't read them fast enough. A must for any classroom library!

HASH(0xa22e1888) out of 5 stars "First chapter book that is really, really funny" June 30 2013
By S. Desai - Published on
Format: Paperback
From my 5 year-old daughter "This is funniest book ever!"
This is the first chapter book that caught my daughter's interest from beginning to end. She laughed all through the first chapter and was hooked! Chapters are short and contain pictures, so a great way to move from picture books to chapter books with a lot of text and only a few pictures. Highly recommend.

HASH(0xa240c414) out of 5 stars Great Book Series! May 29 2008
By Karen - Published on
Format: Paperback
My son Dimitri hates to read and hates school, the My Weird School series is brillant, fun and entertaining. The main character, AJ, hates school and hates to read. My son can certainly identify with that! My son enjoys reading the books...he doesn't realize he is reading! Great series, I am collecting all the books.

HASH(0xa2400ce4) out of 5 stars Disappointed Oct. 8 2012
By Cell - Published on
Format: Paperback
I was very disappointed when I read this book. As an up coming teacher, I do not want to read this book to my students or have them read it. It's all about AJ who hates reading, school, his friends, and his teachers. I do not believe this book portrays what students need to be learning. AJ has a name for each student he comes in contact with. His stupid friend eats paper, his crybaby friend cries a lot, his annoying friend is way too annoying for him, etc. I am severely disappointed in these books. Students need to be able to accept everyone for who they are, not for who they aren't.

Format: Paperback
Dan Gutman understands young reader’s humor and has created a fantastic book formula to draw in even the most reluctant of readers. The My Weird School series is perfect for students to practice their reading skills with its repetitive yet hysterical narrative and story lines. But don’t mention that part to your kiddos, they might run away in fear they could learn something. A must have collection for any grade school library or classroom!
