Product Description

From Amazon.co.uk

Flagbearers for the "nu rave" movement they helped found, London's Klaxons make their full-length debut with Myths of the Near Future. Fans of the old rave, initially, will be forgiven for not knowing what all the fuss is about--beyond a dramatically punked-up cover of "Not Over Yet" by '90s chart star Grace, the Klaxons owe precious little to the synthetic rush of UK clubland past or present. Persist, though, because once beyond this realisation, it's possible to appreciate this band on their own merits. "Isle of Her" and "From Atlantis to Interzone" come on like brooding US punks Liars, all thrumming, distorted bassline and a vocal delivery that veers between desolate and manic (although the latter's whirling air-raid siren is very much the Klaxons' own addition), while on the other side of the coin, "Golden Skans" betrays an impressive ability for anthemic, harmony-laden pop. Lyrically, too, it's a confusing and fascinating document, fragments of "peacock's tails" and "madcap Medusa" emerging from the maelstrom. What at first sounds unfocused gradually makes a weird kind of sense; indeed, you suspect the Klaxons planned it that way from the beginning. --Louis Pattison

Album Description

2007 debut from this hotly-tipped underground British rock band, who have been dubbed the leaders and innovators of the 'New Rave'/'Flourescent Rock' scene. 2007 could be Klaxons’ year, with their stew of cosmic imagery, avant-garde awareness, dizzy melodies and raging energy are set to lead the way forward. Features the singles 'Atlantis To Interzone', 'Gravity's Rainbow', 'Magick' and 'Golden Skans'. Because.

5.0 out of 5 stars Disregard the hipsters and listen to this one anyway, Nov 27 2007

The Klaxons deserve the attention they've been getting. Hopefully those reading this won't just consider them another flavour of the month and will enjoy them as much as I have.

The kitschy content of their album harkens back to the peculiar spiritual endeavours of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Tool, but with their own more humorous and irreverent take on the myths of the occult subcultures that still exist in England.

Catchy riffs and high replay value, I've been listening to this album steadily, off and on, for half a year now and it's still excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ohhhhhahhhhh, Mar 29 2007
You've probably been hearing alot about the Klaxons as of late. They've been reciving a ton of praise from UK music journalists and for good reason. The Klaxons combine a punk rock astectic with a flair for big synth florishes and dance beats. One of the best albums of 2007! Pick it up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Get this album!!, Feb 1 2007
By Joel Vand "Joe" (Alberta, Canada) - See all my reviews
Every year a new group comes out with a new sound that pushes music to a hole new levil. 2OO7 is the year Klaxons could shine a light for new rave music, if you already followed the Klaxons you would know of there EP Xan Valleys. Though two songs from there ep are on there current album, Xan Valleys was great start. Myths of the Near Future is an amazing first full length album, first track "Two Recievers" is a great opening. Track "Four Horsemen of 2012" great closer. I recomened "Gravity's Rainbow".
