tension, and suspense through the roof, Feb 1 2008
as suspense/thrillers go this one is top notch.it is extremely
suspenseful and thrilling.but it's also very graphic and disturbing.i
had a hard time watching because of that.but good movies of this genre
do that, make you uncomfortable and unnerved.besides,i didn't find it
gratuitous at all.plus, there's a great twist in this one.a lot of
people will probable figure it out,but i still think it's a great
twist.the acting is first rate here, from all concerned.Holly Hunter and
Wil Patton are very good, and Dermot Mulroney puts in a great
performance.but in my mind it is Sigourney Weaver and Harry Connick who
own the movie with their performances.this movie has elements of
Silence of the Lambs and Seven, but it is no copycat of those movies.it
is it's own movie, and in my opinion, better than Silence, and as good as
Seven,maybe even a bit better.i haven't seen a movie with this much
intensity in along time.it's one of those movies that will likely stick
with you long after the end credits have rolled.at least it has with
me.for me,Copycat is a perfect 5/5

Intelligent, inventive serial killer thriller, April 26 2011
This review is from: NEW Copycat (DVD) (DVD)
A smart, scary, grown-up serial killer thriller. Enhanced by some very good acting,
-- especially by Sigourney Weaver -- some very sharp writing, and director Jon Amiel's
skillful modulations of the ups and downs of tension and emotion.
That said, the film's strengths are slightly undermined by a few annoying contrivances
in keys spots, a few awkward moments, and an ending that doesn't quite work.
But this is still still way better and meatier than most of it's genre.

One of the best suspense films of the 90's, Oct 19 2003
COPYCAT stands on it's own despite being compared to SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. Truly frightening and suspenseful in scenes, the film works beautifully because of the cast (Holly Hunter and Sigourney Weaver) and the excellent script.
Sigourney Weaver character was stalked by a serial killer some years before, and as a result, is confined to her home where she lives in understandable fear. The police now consult with her in her capacity as a criminal psychologist to find the identity of a new serial killer. In the process, her world is once again turned upside down in a way which will make you want to jump up and lock your door.
CopyCat is a true gem of the suspense thriller genre but overlooked by so many as a 'copycat' of other great films. Trust me, it really does deserve merit for its ability to remain as fresh today as it was upon first release.
Deserves a place in your DVD collection.
