Finally, Marvel has produced a good quality animated film that looks like it's supposed to. Good, crisp animation that actually looks like the art in the comic book. Great action. We actually see some blood in the fights. And we see Deadpool! Check it out definitely.

This is a great release from Marvel Animation. The only reason why I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is because this double-feature is not well-balanced. I watched Hulk vs Thor first and I thought it was a great piece. Then I watched Hulk vs Wolverine... and I was blown away! This one was way better than the one with Thor (for my taste). Hulk vs Wolverine was edgier and I felt it was a little bit more graphic. At such a reasonable price, this one is definitely a must-buy!

Each of these was enjoyable for separate reasons. Vs Thor was a more complete story with good action scenes. Vs. Wolverine had great action scenes but the story was definitely lacking, especially the ending. Overall I would recommend it but at the end of the two movies you can't help but think they could have done so much more with it.

My benchmarks for any animated movie are simple...
Was I entertained?
Would I watch it again?
Will I sit down with my kids when they are old enough and watch this with them?

I have to answer yes to the 1st and maybe to the rest.

Two short films, one explosive movie!

Hulk vs Wolverine: Logan (Wolverine) is called in to a small town that the Hulk just ravaged in an effort to track down the beast and stop him for good. However, once the two meet, they go head-to-head and battle to the finish. Different phases of the fight trigger certain flashbacks for Wolverine and he remembers bits and pieces of how he came to be and his history with Weapon X (who also shows up).

This part of the movie is all-out-hey-bub-come-get-some craziness. Wolverine lets it rip and him and Hulk go at it like no one’s business, definitely making this segment the more exciting of the two in terms of action. I mean, Hulk really smashes and showcases his raw power and strength and, I’m telling you, there’s no holding back.

Putting Wolverine up against Hulk was a smart move because here you got this guy who’s tough as nails, has a healing factor, and has an adamantium skeleton—and claws!—that make him near invincible. On the I-can-take-some-serious-damage level, Wolverine is right up there.

I also appreciated how they had him slice into Hulk versus just having the two slug it out. Frankly, Wolverine’s punches against the Hulk wouldn’t him take him far, if anywhere at all. Have him start cutting the Hulk with his claws—and with them being adamantium, they can do that—now Hulk finds himself in some serious jeopardy if he’s not careful.

Storywise, this one was the weaker of the two, but getting a brief overview of the Weapon X program and Wolverine’s creation is a plus for fans. Besides, Deadpool is in this and who doesn’t love that?

Onto . . .

Action Packed!! -- Marvel generally runs a distant 2nd place to DC when in comes to direct to DVD/Blu-Ray Animated movies.
That being said, this double feature definately gets them closer. It is targeted for a more mature audience and the fact that they are original stories makes them even more enjoyable. The Hulk/Wolverine could have been a little longer, it was only 37mins, but in that time they packed in a whole whack of fun. A definate must have for animated super-hero movie fans.

I found this dvd to be quite misleading. Mainly it is about the other characters in the vs. title and not about the hulk, oddly enough. The wolverine section had more to do with Weapon-X than anything else. Honestly, how many times do we need to go over Wolverine and the Weapon-x program? That being said, it was well done mostly. It was, however, far too short and the ending? Well.. judge for yourself.

The Thor portion of the film was more interesting to me to see Asgard and Norse Gods of Myth. Hulk was featured more in this film, though. I really enjoyed Thor in the Avengers films, and was pleased with this version as well. Speaking of the Avengers animated films, if you want good Hulk action, I would suggest the avengers series, or heck even "Next Avengers" had more Hulk action... All in all, this was just okay.

The Wolverine segment is mostly one big bash up and Wolverine love in, while the Thor segment has crazy fighting with a nice bit of story. I've never been a huge fan of the Hulk or Thor, but I enjoyed these fun but violent forays in to their worlds. If there's one complaint I have, it's that it'd have been nice to see a longer running time- but that'd have been too much for most big kiddies attention spans. There is blood, but not much.
