I'm a big TV watcher and there is very little to watch in the summer so when I saw this show premiere on ABC and CTV a little over a year ago I thought I would check it out. If you're anything like me, you can't stand the typical cop drama with little character development and little to no back story. Guy dies, this how it happened, this is why it happened, this is who did it. About sums up your average episode of CSI, Criminal Minds etc. That's why Rookie Blue is so great. It has a lot of the elements those shows have, but it also has an interesting story that continues throughout each episode, interesting and likeable characters acted out well through a great cast and you really get to know the characters and their lives inside and out of the uniform.
It's not as raw or edgy as a show like Southland, but it's not going to slip you into a coma like an episode of CSI. This quickly became one of my favourites and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a solid TV show.
