4.0 out of 5 stars Did I say "meow?" Do I look like a cat to you? July 7 2010
You'll be jumping around all nimbly-bimbly from tree to tree upon viewing this blu-ray disc. For me, the DVD/blu combo pack was a no brainer as I found it uber-cheap. I don't normally re-buy movies just for resolution or bonus features, but Super Troopers was a fun one to upgrade.

For those unfamiliar, it's not an original story. Five bumbling highway cops like to prank the people they pull over, and each other. Budget cutbacks threaten to shut them down, and the city cops will expand into their jurisdiction. Can the highway cops provide one big bust that they need to stay in business? Are the city cops corrupt? Can officer Rabbit chug a bottle of syrup faster than officer Ramathorn?

Highlights for me included:
- the opening "college dudes" prank.
- the "meow" prank.
- any scene with Farva.
- the bear costume.

Watch it, and you'll see!

Lowlights include:
- the plot. Honestly, I start getting bored in this movie when they start to seriously investigate the big crime. My attention tends to wander. Fear not though, they get back to pranking again in short order.

Bonus features include multiple commentaries, deleted scenes, and an alternate ending. Exclusive to blu-ray are a drinking game and a fun picture-in-picture commentary featuring the entire main cast as well as supporting cast. This commentary, though a little choatic, is plenty fun. Also exclusive to blu is a new scene, animated, albeit not essential.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Entertaining Low Budget Comedy is a Hit. July 17 2004
In a Small Vermont town, A Bunch of Slackers Police Highway Patrolmen (Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter & Erik Stolhanske) decide to pull off Pranks an Unsuspecting People on the Highway, since it's their last week on the Job. But when they find the Opportunity to solve a Real Crime that involves Drugs and Murder. These inept Highway Patrolmen have their last chance to save their Jobs before another Vermont's Patrol Jerks take it over.
Directed by Jay Chandrasekhar (Club Dread) made a low-brow, highly funny comedy. It's shows that Chandrasekhar wanted to make a smart Police Academy comedy with doses of Farrelly Brothers humour and it's works. This independent comedy did well in theaters in the winter of 2002 to find better success on Video. While the lead cast are Unknowns, the film also starts in Supporting Roles are:Brian Cox, Daniel Van Bargen and Marisa Coughlan. DVD has an sharp anamorphic Widescreen (1.85:1) transfer and an terrific-Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. DVD has two commentaries by the director, cast/writers of the film. DVD also has Deleted Scenes with/without Commentaries by the director and cast/writes, featurette and trailers. Do not miss this hilarious comedy that becomes a instant Cult Classic. Written by the Broken Lizard gang, which they are the five lead cast of the film. Lynda Carter from the TV's Wonder Woman fame has a Cameo here. Grade:A.

5.0 out of 5 stars as funny as american cinema gets June 9 2004
This is one of the funniest and greatest films in modern American cinema. i love at the beginning when the cops tell the stoners to pull over and theyre like 'we cant pull over any farther'. you have to see that part to appreciate it cause once you do you will be using that line for years. the guy in the back trippin out cause he ate the whole bag of pot and shrooms. hes like 'the snozberries taste like snozberries'. great line.
best character is farva. hes on radio duty cause he pulled over a bus full of kids and he attacked them after they threw something at him from the window.
top 2 farva moments:
1) farva asks for a 'liter cola' and the stoner kid at the burger place is like we dont have those and when farva gets his burger and drink he tears off the game piece to see if he won and theres a whole and all the drink falls on farva and he beats the kid up and he gets suspended from duty.
2) farva brings everyone coffee during the meeting and for the rookie he writes 'stupid rookie' on his cup and puts a bar of soap inside. before he came in the rookie was singing the vermont highway patrol officer song and farva missed it so when he comes in hes like 'sing it again rookie bia*ch'.
anyways this movie rules and you should buy it cause it never gets old.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just not very funny May 3 2004
I give this movie two stars instead of one, because unlike many comedies that miss the mark, this is an amiable film that actually delivers a few laughs. Not too many of them, to be sure, but that's better than most comedies that don't work.
There are three major problems with this movie. First, the laugh density is way too low. Chuckling every 5 minutes doesn't cut it, particularly when you compare this comedy to the classic ______ (insert your favorite here). Second, the gags take way too long to set up, and then usually have paltry payoffs that are tiny in proportion to the laughs delivered. Third, there are too many characters. A slapstick slobs-vs-the-slobs movie like this needs a Bill Murray (Stripes) or other character to be the ringleader for good, and a Ted Knight (Caddyshack) as the ringleader for evil. There are great actors in this film, to be sure, with good comedic talent, but there are so many that the movie becomes unfocused in its comedy.
Indeed, the individual actors are quite good; I fault the script (which really needed a few more weeks of polishing) and lackluster direction and editing for making this movie much less than it could have been.
