NEW Ultimate Ric Flair Collection (DVD)

Pro wrestling fans finally get what they have asked for for many years, a DVD collection dedicated to Ric Flair. Fans looking to see classic footage of "The Nature Boy" from his career heyday as NWA Champion in the 80's will not be disapointed...there is a lot. Many of Flair's most popular opponents over his long career are spotlighted as well, as "Slick Ric" grapples with Terry Funk, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, Sting, and Barry Windham,among others. 2 of Flair's most famous matches are inlcuded in their entirety, his 1989 NWA Title win over Steamboat and his 62 minute performance to win the WWF Title in 1992. Where fans may get disapointed is in the lack of attention Flair's later career recieves, as great feuds such as his WCW Title win over Vader in 1993 or his dramatic return to WCW TV in 1998 after prolonged legal battle with company executives get little attention, if any. Also, there is little footage from Flair's recent return to the pro wrestling ranks although his surprisingly good championship match with HHH from this past May is spotlighted, as well as a never before televised post match tribute in which over 20 wrestlers participated in honoring "The Nature Boy". Still, shortcomings aside, there has never been a collection dedicated to Ric Flair that even approaches this. Pro Wrestling fans may want more but they will not be upset with what they have.

This is probably the best WWE DVD there is, only because it is full of stuff. The Royal Rumble match from 92 is what I consider to be the best Rumble ever. Flair vs Steamboat from Wrestlewar many call the best match of all time. I would have liked to see Flair vs Vader, Flair vs Nikita Koloff, Flair vs Magnum TA, Flair vs Hogan and Flair vs Piper on this DVD set but all that means is that they can do a volume 2.

I've never bought a wrestling tape or DVD, pay-per-view or magazine, but I've been a Flair fan since the Seventies. This is a great set. Most is from the "good ol' days" when Flair was the star for Jim Crockett promotions. Thankfully, there isn't much WWE footage. About the only "modern day" shots are from his match with Triple H and the tribute which followed in Greenville, S.C., and that was superb. If you live in the Mid-Atlantic area and grew up watching Flair on the Crockett shows, this will bring back a lot of memories.
