How many times have you watched a music documentary where they show a killer 30 second clip of say the band live and you have said "why don't they release the whole thing". Well that just what Kiss did with these sets. I found the first one in a dump bin for $15. How could you go wrong with that. Most have a bonus disc as well. Like I said I am not a Kiss die hard but I have seen the four times over the last 30 years and these guys know how to put on a show. Plus the are so silly they are cool. No one takes themselves to Serously but they do play up their parts. This has segments from Paul Lins Helloween special that I watched as a kid growing up in the late 70's. I remember I was in grade five when I got Destroyer and my teacher let us play it once during art class and at the end I was asked to take it home and not bring it again. Too much. There so much in here and I see another reviewer did a great job listing it so I won't bother but all I want to say is this package is a lot of fun so if your hymning and haying about it drop the bread. It's totally worth it . So are the other two volumes. One of which has the cheesy made for TV movie "Kiss meets the phantom of the park". It's so bad it's great. Kind of like kiss getting trapped into an episode of the Brady Bunch. Again too much!

Okay, first up: no bonus disc. If I wanted one, I guess I should've bought this five years ago when it was released. That said, let's get on with the review.

I'm not a member of the KISS Army. I worshipped these guys in elementary school, but pretty much dropped off when the makeup came off in about (for me) Grade 7. This year, I'm turning 40... and hell, maybe I wanted to recapture some of those magic moments from my childhood years. A big part of those years was KISS.

So I bought 'Destroyer' on iTunes, which turned out to be, regrettably, a pretty flat experience. Because I began to realize that, unless you're *looking at* these guys while you listen to them, you're getting less than half the package. So I bought this set.

And it rocks.

Growing up in small-town Alberta as I did, you could forget about a KISS concert. If you wanted KISS, you had three choices: the albums, the bubblegum cards, and 16 magazine. Because of this, I (like all the other kids in my neighbourhood) began to deify these guys. This set certainly allows you to continue to do that, but what shocked me (no pun intended), as a musician myself today, was how KISS were just a quartet of rock n' roll dudes from the 70's, making it up as they went along. And you get to watch every step of the way. A full concert from each tour is presented here, and it's such a thrill to watch the costumes evolve, and hear old favourite songs introduced into the repertoire for the first time.

Some folks here have quibbles about the quality - I don't. I should say, this is the first dvd I've bought since switching to blu-ray over two years ago. Does the dip in quality bother me? Not in the least.
