To Jill Johnson, it was the perfect babysitting job. The parents were away. The fridge was stocked. The children were tucked into bed. But then the phone rings and an ominous voice asks, 'Have you checked the children?' Locked in with the lights out and the curtains drawn, a panicky Jill phones the police, who trace the calls ' only to inform her they're coming from inside the house. When a Stranger Calls (2006) is the perfect film - It's short and it hits hard. Bought this once at WalMart but the disc was scratched so I bought it on amazon and the shipping arrived 2 days earlier. Great film - Recomended to everyone.

in my mind,this remake of the 1979 original is quite a bit better than the original.i thought it was more suspenseful and eerie,and it also left some things to the imagination.i also thought Camilla Belle was very convincing as the terrified babysitter,whereas Carol Kane,from the original didn't do it for me.to me,she just seemed too old for the part.i thought this movie was very fast paced,which i liked.it doesn't drag at all,in my opiinion.it's a very simple movie and doesn't try to be more than it is.it's also not graphic at all,and not overly violent,which just proves you don't need blood and gore to make a suspenseful movie.for other recommendations,you can check out the review i wrote of the original"When a Stranger Calls"(1979)as for the remake,for me it is a 5/5

The original is a classic, but this 2006 remake does a great job re-creating the best parts of the original. The whole movie takes place when then young girl played by Camilla Belle, takes a baby sitting job by a wealthy couple, in their gorgeous, but eerily dark and huge home. She starts recieving strange calls, which she believes are just prank calls made by her ex boyfriend at first. Until they become more strange and threatning, when she receives the creepiest call, and most classic line of the movie... "Have you checked the kids?". Alot of the original movie, takes place once the main character grows up and has children of her own. Where the remake focuses on just the main character as a teenager. As far as remakes go, this one is a must own! Its suspenseful and creepy all the way thru, and gets more so, with every call from the unknown "Stranger"! The only complaint I have is the lead actoress they chose, 'Camilla Belle' could of been played better.
